Full-Time Electrical Maintenance Lead

This is a special opportunity to be part of creating the future through working with sidewalk robots with swappable top modules (salt sprayers, delivery carts, plows, etc). You will work alongside the mechanical and assembly team to build, and test a mobile electric robot. The scope of your work will mainly be electrical, but a large amount of time will be spent providing leadership to junior staff and troubleshooting efforts. If you’re a self-starter, looking for more responsibility and are comfortable working in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment, you may be a good fit for this position.
We are looking for someone who is in the Waterloo region and able to work in-office due to the nature of work performed.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and training to staff for robot electrical assembly, maintenance, and repair
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings, utilizing comprehensive knowledge of common electrical components (and related symbols and polarities)
- Electrical assembly includes, soldering, crimping and general utilization of hand tools
- Some mechanical assembly such as extrusion frames, mounting motors and other components
- Troubleshoot and debug electrical issues
- Assist team members and perform electrical tasks
- Ensure electrical assembly is completed to quality standards
- Report problems or issues to electrical design team
- Upgrade components on old robots
- Assist with the design of systems to improve the operation of the robots
- Improve the manufacturing and assembly process of the robot.
Skills/Experience:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering
- 1-4 years of work experience in a leadership role
- Strong background in electrical theory, specifically in power systems and low voltage delivery systems.
- Strong leadership experience, mentoring junior staff.
- Previous hands-on experience working with electronics
- Quality assurance experience is an asset
- Able to read electrical schematics and wire harness layout
- Experience with electrical debugging equipment (multimeter and oscilloscope), soldering, and hand tools
- Experience building cable harnesses with various connectors and crimp tools
- Linux experience is an asset
