Full-Time Electric Metering Supervisor
Job Description
Plan, coordinate, and supervise personnel to complete the installation, maintenance, and testing of electric meters and field components associated with AMI, AMR, customer metering, tie point metering, and meter reading systems. This position is that of a working supervisor, responsible for supervising and performing job functions within assigned areas. Ensure that interactions with customers reflect the highest standards of conduct and professionalism. Collaborate with other departments to insure the effectiveness of electric metering systems. Ensure that all work activities adhere to safe work practices, regulatory requirements, and company policy and procedures.
Principal Accountabilities
Supervision:
- Plans, schedules, and supervises personnel to ensure efficient and effective performance in providing metering services for customer and company projects.
- Develop plans, estimates, authorizations, schedules, and instructional documents to carry out required construction, maintenance, and inspection/testing activities in areas of responsibility
- Coordinate, direct and supervise the work activities of the meter technicians
- Ensure successful completion of complex customer related metering projects. Proactively provide clear and timely construction standards, costs, and company policy information to customers, contractors, and electricians.
- Ensure compliance with annual meter testing and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Provide MV-90 interval data as required and monitor MV-90 daily operations and data transfers to Energy Measurement Information System (EMIS) and Meter Database Management System
- Oversee the installation and maintenance of AMI metering
- Performs field inspections to identify needs for projects and other corrective measures
- Perform supervisory observation inspections to ensure employees are following safe working practices
- Ensures the timely completion of all necessary records and documentation needed for accounting, regulatory, asset management, and related purposes
- Ensures successful cross-boundary interface with other functional areas in the value chain including customer accounting, customer service, procurement & inventory, plant records, plant accounting, engineering, electric operations and central dispatching
- Ensure compliance to safety rules and work practices
- Provide input for annual capital and O&M budget development
Operational Performance:
- Prepares, maintains, and analyzes statistics and schedules to measure departmental performance
- Collaborates with Safety and Training Department to create a safe working environment and ensures achievement of department and company safety goals
- Collaborates with engineering to meet or exceed system reliability goals
- Ensure capital expenditures meet budget goals
- Ensure operations and maintenance expenditures meet budget goals
Metering:
- Ensures customer satisfaction, by meeting customer schedules and ensuring all metering equipment is purchased, programmed and tested. Ensures metering accuracy for all customers from the meter through the AMI systems, MV90, MeterSense, and EMIS.
Leadership:

Emergency Response:
- Coordinate the response to downed wires during storm events that may impact any or all of Unitil’s systems as needed
- Capitalizes on unplanned opportunities and responds to unforeseen situations; undertakes and completes assignments and special projects as assigned by management.
- Collaborates with other supervisors within the Operations group and provides assistance and auxiliary support in their absence.
Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent work experience
- 7 years of progressively responsible experience including proven supervisory experience
- Must maintain a valid motor vehicle driver’s license for the state of residence
- Must reside within a reasonable geographic area and be available for duties during times of system emergencies.
