Summary
The education manager of public programs will develop and execute educational programs and events that produce measurable results and visibility for the museum. Programs include but are not limited to onsite programming at the museum, Virtual programs online, STREAM programs, community partner events and other public programs. As a part of the leadership team, will continue to develop the education department and model the values of the organization.
Responsibilities
Management
- Provide leadership and support to the community programs coordinator, onsite programs coordinator and part-time educators which includes scheduled weekly check-ins
- Assist with training and onboarding new educators on facilitating daily programs curriculum
- Regularly monitor part-time educator led daily programs to provide coaching and feedback on performance
- Works with education staff to collaboratively develop programs and educational experiences that develop the next generation of learners and positions the organization as a leader in diversity, inclusion, equity, sustainability, and innovation
- Assist with the development and review of daily programs curriculum to ensure it meets educational standards and aligns with the museum’s mission, vision, and values before implementation
- Supporting the design and implementation of community program activities
- Continuously monitor and evaluate museum’s programming to ensure it aligns with community and student needs, organization growth, lessons learned, and best practices
- Teaches and facilitates workshops, programs, and events
Volunteer & Intern Management
- Design, plan and manage a comprehensive volunteer and Intern program that will supplement the services of the regular museum staff with special regard to diversity and inclusion
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Child Development, Museum Education, Museum Studies or similar Teaching credential or certification preferred
- 3-5 years of education experience either in a formal or informal learning environment
- Able to collaborate with all internal teams to build a positive, supportive, and inclusive culture focused on delivering value to our visitors
- Promotes a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all team members
- Embrace and practice a proactive, ‘can do’, self-starter attitude with a strong work ethic
- Be willing to jump in and take initiative over projects and fulfill needs of the organization
- Must be kind, enthusiastic, friendly and have a desire to interact with children
- Ability to listen and effectively communicate with a diverse population
- Willingness to continually learn and adapt to challenges and differing perspectives
- Bilingual a plus
- Salary $50,000-$52,000
