Education and Public Programs Coordinator

Corporate Services – Community Connections

 

Status: (1) Contract full-time position – Up to 13 months

Salary range: $71,698 – $89,624 per annum plus comprehensive benefits

Work mode: Hybrid – you will be required to work onsite at least 2 to 3 days per week, depending on operational needs.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week *Flexibility required to work evenings, weekends, statutory holidays and on-call rotation

 

Reporting to the Supervisor of Community Engagement and working closely with the Community Engagement Team, the Education and Public Programs Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of PAMA’s education and public programs, including programs for school, youth, children, adult, seniors and family audiences. These programs include workshops, lectures, lessons, courses, tours, performances and activities.

 

What you will do in this role:

  • Assist with the development of PAMA’s annual Learning Plan
  • Assist in the planning, development and delivery of programs and activities for various audiences, including children, students, seniors and general public
  • Working with the Community Engagement team, coordinates the purchase of supplies, use of equipment for seniors, and family activities, public and school programs
  • Coordinating all tasks related to program bookings, room bookings, equipment and room set up
  • Works closely with a team of Educators, including scheduling, task assignment and general administration
  • Responsible for website updates, registration administration and support
  • Various administrative tasks including: compiling statistics, file maintenance, activity templates, evaluations, and proof reading
  • In support of PAMA’s exhibition and programs, provide training and updates for educators, summer and co-op students and volunteers
  • Assist with the development and delivery of Family Fun Activities

 

What the role requires:

  • Post-secondary degree, with a specialization in education, arts, humanities or related field
  • 3 years in museum programming experience or combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Previous work experience within a cultural institution is preferred
  • Familiarity with principles of heritage interpretation
  • Knowledge of the arts, culture, and/or museum sectors

  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated experience in developing public program plans in a public gallery or museum environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent public speaking and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of discretion, diplomacy and professionalism
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

*Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you’ll enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement. This means you’ll have the ability to work off-site and on-site as needed, depending on operational needs at the 9 Wellington Street East, Brampton worksite. The frequency of on-site work may vary from week to week, depending on operational demands, which can evolve over time.
