Please note: Flexible scheduling is required, including the ability to work opening, closing and weekends with variable days off based on scheduling needs. DreamLab hours Tues-Sat 10am-7:30pm, Sun 12pm-6pm, closed Monday.

DreamLab Manager: The Girl Scout DreamLab Manager will direct the day-to-day operations of Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO)’s DreamLab in Denver with a goal of increasing membership and community engagement, space utilization, and awareness of the DreamLab and Girl Scout programs. Primary responsibilities include coordination of programs hosted in the DreamLab and day-to-day supervision of staff focused on program delivery, membership, retail and hospitality tasks, and facility management. This role will collaborate with several teams within GSCO to support their work at DreamLab.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Supervision

  • Work with departmental and organizational leadership and key staff members to identify staffing needs and manage a team of DreamLab Associates and Specialists. Staff functions will be focused on providing excellent customer service to all visitors, retail sales, membership sign-up, hosting reservations, program execution, and supporting visitor use of the various features of the DreamLab.
  • Directly supervise staff members, including hiring, training and development, providing ongoing coaching and support, and performance management processes.
  • Manage the staff schedule to ensure appropriate and adequate staff during operating hours of the DreamLab.

Facility Management

  • Works with DreamLab team to ensure facilities are prepared for guests. Assist authorized groups and their leaders in the use and care of the facility and communicate with groups prior to arrival.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the DreamLab, supervising the DreamLab team in opening and closing the facility, completing administrative and facility management tasks, maintaining equipment and technology, and ensuring a safe, clean, and secure space.
  • Support the DreamLab Specialist in facility management duties and coordination with the GSCO property team.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with property management and landlord, as well as tenants in the nearby vicinity.
  • Respond to emergencies that arise and ensure consistent alignment with security protocols.
  • Maintain DreamLab organization, appearance, and cleanliness. Maintain a safe work environment and report potential hazards.

Program

  • Manage programs and events in the DreamLab; overseeing execution of DreamLab-specific programs, including drop-in program offerings, workshops, partner programs, and large-scale community-facing opportunities. Create program curriculum, project timelines, run of shows, and collaboration checklists.
  • Support the delivery of programs and events hosted by program partners, volunteers, or other staff teams within the DreamLab.
  • Maintain a calendar of daily programmatic opportunities for DreamLab visitors. Identify gaps in DreamLab program calendar and work to address them by developing and implementing new experience-based programming or adapting current programs designed to engage current and prospective members and volunteers.
  • Generate program engagement and facility utilization reports and conduct and report on pre- and post-program surveys.
  • Train and coach DreamLab staff on program offerings and facilitation strategies.
  • Communicate with GSCO’s program and membership teams, community partners, and stakeholders to determine local programmatic needs specific to GSCO’s membership.

 

Membership Support

  • Provide potential new members with a consistent message about Girl Scouting and all the possible ways girls can participate in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE).
  • Maintain current knowledge of the Girl Scout program, pathways, and activities and member registration processes.
  • Develop and execute effective recruiting strategies to increase girl and adult membership in collaboration with local membership staff.
  • Cultivate relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, and businesses to support community and member engagement efforts to positively impact membership growth.
  • Ensure Girl Scouting is open and available to all youth and adults by consistent delivery of the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity throughout the community.

Retail Support

  • Assist with retail functions, to include but not limited to: execution of sales; ensuring proper cash handling procedures; implementing loss prevention practices and reporting potential incidents.
  • Train DreamLab staff in retail functions and ensure performance metrics are met.
  • Work with Retail & Customer Service Manager and Programs team to plan for and stock the retail section of the DreamLab with exciting, program-based, and seasonal items.

Administration

  • Create and manage the DreamLab budget in collaboration with cross-departmental staff.
  • Support DreamLab survey administration, analysis, and change implementation based on feedback.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities in a timely, independent, and detail-oriented manner. Meet administration deadlines, respond to emails, and phone calls quickly, manage tasks independently and communicate additional support needed.
  • Interact with digital systems and create more efficient systems and processes where applicable including Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, CheckFront, Outlook, Formstack, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and others.

PRIMARY CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Marketing and Communications department to support the promotion of the DreamLab, programs, and reservation opportunities.
  • Support Product Program in facilitating sales of products at seasonal booths outside of the DreamLab.
  • Ensure compliance with GSCO policies and operational guidelines.
  • In accordance with the philosophy of Girl Scouts of Colorado, the person filling this position may occasionally be required to carry out or assist with other tasks in addition to the duties listed on this job description.
  • Support the efforts and commitments of Girl Scouts of Colorado in pluralism and diversity throughout the organization and within each community served.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Formal Training

  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent and/or a combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • At least five years of related customer-facing work experience. Related work experience can include retail, hospitality, event management, program logistics and program planning, or other relevant customer facing roles.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated success with project management working cross-functionally and working in a regional or statewide manner.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, with demonstrated personal and professional commitment to pluralism.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent skills planning and leading cross-functional projects, including proven success in project management and in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Ability to develop, communicate, and implement property, program, and membership goals in collaboration with departments and with support of DreamLab team.
  • Ability to be a people leader and organizer.
  • Analytical thinker and ability to solve problems by providing practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of visual merchandising standards and techniques, and ability to implement corporate guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Point of Sales (POS) and inventory management.
  • Basic janitorial and housekeeping skills.
  • Experience in working with diverse populations of staff and volunteers, demonstrated personal and professional commitment to pluralism.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally present information and respond to questions from internal GSCO staff and external GSCO audience including staff, volunteers, Girl Scouts, parents, and the community.
  • Strong motivational, organizational, detail orientated and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make a work plan autonomously, track task responsibilities, and implement work plan.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, both administrative and programmatic, and to multitask and prioritize.
  • Must be skilled in communicating with people to convey or exchange information, including giving/receiving assignments and/or directions.
  • Must be knowledgeable in how to teach subject matter to others, or training others through explanation, demonstration, and supervised practice; or making recommendations on the basis of technical disciplines.
  • Must have the ability to work with and retain sensitive and/or confidential information while understanding and ensuring that it is only shared with those who are privy to such information.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with employees, volunteers, customers, and vendors verbally and nonverbally both in person and in writing.
  • Knowledge of (or ability/willingness to learn) Counter Point POS, Microsoft Teams, Outlook email and Salesforce.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age, with 5 years of driving experience.
  • Must possess a valid and current license to operate a standard motor vehicle.
  • Must pass all required background & motor vehicle record checks.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, & writing English.
  • Desired to be fluent in speaking, reading, & writing Spanish.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED

  • Computer and related software, telephone, e-mail, fax machines, copiers and equipment commonly found in an office environment.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  • The job is carried out primarily in the DreamLab (Denver); however, travel to other Girl Scouts locations throughout Colorado may be required.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends on site and extended hours during peak program seasons.
  • Flexible scheduling is required, including the ability to work opening, closing and weekends with variable days off based on scheduling needs. DreamLab hours Tues-Sat 10am-7:30pm, Sun 12pm-6pm, closed Monday.
  • Frequently: Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Involves engaging with the public for most of the time, with the occasional periods of working at a desk and in front of a screen.
  • Occasionally: May be required to transport Girl Scout materials weighing up to 30 pounds with or without assistance.
  • Travel & Transportation: Ability to travel short distances for DreamLab functions (i.e. to storage or the retail shop to retrieve additional inventory or similar). Access to own transportation valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Most travel will be short distances within the metro Denver area.
  • This position requires extended periods of viewing electronic screens.

Salary:

This position pays a salaried range of $60,000-$67,000/year.
