ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Donor Database Manager is the primary owner of all fundraising data structure, storage, and reporting, with a strong focus on (but not limited to) the Raiser’s Edge database. This role brings a creative, detailed, and relational approach to donor engagement and data management that supports departmental strategies to reach Water For People’s ambitious growth goals. The Donor Database Manager is a key partner for departmental colleagues and other departments across the global organization.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL
Fundraising Data Management
- Responsible for Raiser’s Edge database, including setting the business rules for the system and determining permissions for users.
- In collaboration with the Senior Data Analyst, define and maintain nomenclature and coding protocols that undergird reporting and output needs.
- Identify enhancements, customizations, and modifications to the database to support fundraising processes and goals.
- Develop, implement, and document data management processes that ensure the integrity and security of information and compliance with fundraising policies and procedures. Monitor staff usage of applications to ensure procedures are being followed.
- Oversee integrations between Raiser’s Edge and other platforms to ensure optimum data flow, consistency, and reconciliation between systems.
- Devise and administer data-hygiene policies and data-enhancement strategies.
- Build imports to Raiser’s Edge with a consistent approach, ensuring accurate and clean data.
- Generate data selections, including queries and lists (and/or build queries fundraisers can run on their own), and perform data segmentation.
- Lead relationship with customer relationship management (CRM) partner. Keep abreast of and introduce new fundraising technologies, with an eye toward enhancing operations, improving efficiency, and increasing philanthropy.
- Supervise and support daily data tasks to ensure timely recording of donor and gift data and to fulfill ongoing data needs within and across teams.
- Serve as backstop in the Data Coordinator’s absence.
- Work closely with the Finance Department to ensure integration and reconciliation between systems and teams.
Team Collaboration and Management
- Supervise Data Coordinator, including managing and evaluating skill, experience, and professional development needs. Establish performance measurements to ensure consistent and motivating evaluation and goal setting.
- Ensure that new employees to the department receive robust onboarding to Donor Impact data systems. Provide opportunities for ongoing training and continuous learning.
- Identify training needs across the department for users of fundraising data systems and facilitate the training process as needed.
- Support fundraising relationship managers to create and maintain accurate and updated projections and records, including defining the standard operating procedures and expectations for these records.
- Devise and support protocols for global staff usage of Raiser’s Edge based on country/regional capacity and needs.
- Proactively assist users in determining more efficient ways to utilize Raiser’s Edge and provide support when errors and issues arise.
- Serve as a role model for continuous data quality improvement, offering advice and support as needed.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability when pursuing individual and organizational performance standards.
YOU WILL EXCEL IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE
- At least 3 years’ proven work experience in database management.
- Experience working with multiple databases and software platforms is essential, including relational databases and data visualization tools.
- Familiarity with the philanthropic industry and best practices in fundraising.
- Ability to analyze and review operational procedures, identify problem areas, and optimize performance through procedural changes.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with ability to establish priorities, balance multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to influence through engagement rather than through direct authority.
- English language fluency.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office program suite.

- This position has the option to work from an office or remotely in one of the following countries where Water For People is present: Guatemala, Honduras, Bolivia, India, Malawi, Peru, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, the United Kingdom, or the United States.
- Candidates must be a citizen or legally authorized to work in the country they live in.
- Ability to work outside regular business hours to meet with team members located in other time zones.
- Ability to work in an open office environment if choosing to work from the Denver, CO office.

Salary Range:
Anticipated salary range: $52,500 – $76,000 for US candidates only. (If based outside the US an equivalent country market – based salary will be determined)
Actual salary will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors.
