Full-Time DMV Staff Development Specialist
Job Description
- Provide training support to our DMV Training and Development Section in accordance with staff and organizational needs and objectives.
- Consult with DMV staff, analyzing, planning, designing, developing, implementing, instructing, evaluating, and revising basic and continuous professional development programs.
- Monitor Federal and NC legislation, DMV policy, procedures, and processes to ensure all training material is current and accurate.
- Deliver effective and relevant new and continuous professional training and development programs to DMV teams, including Driver Services, Vehicle Services, Customer Compliance Services, Strategy Research and Development, Business Services and License and Theft, License Plate Agency, Law Enforcement, Automobile Dealers, Community Colleges, Universities, and NC residents.
- Analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, instruct, evaluate, and revise multi-course programs of instruction, including lesson plans, training proposals, technical manuals as well as monitor Federal and NC legislation, DMV policy, procedures, and processes to ensure all training material is current and accurate.
- Working knowledge of all General Statutes, rules, regulations, policies, program changes, and procedures affecting DMV.
- Proven working knowledge of NC Motor Vehicle Laws (Chapter 20) directly related to Vehicle Registration and Liability Insurance.
- Working knowledge of NCDMV rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and our STARS and LITES programs.
- Ability to create PowerPoint presentations, tests, and support materials for instructor-led in-person, virtual, and online training courses.
- Ability to coordinate logistics implementing instructional programs at training sites.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles and theories in instruction of adult learners and development of subject matter into course material.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with trainees, other instructors, staff, contractors, supervisors, managers, and upper management.
- Ability to formulate ideas and communicate them in verbal and written forms.
- Experience planning work assignments and coordination with project managers.
- Ability to identify, document, and organize tasks into a project plan, maintain records and training rosters.
- Experience developing and presenting programs to large groups of adult learners.
- Experience reading and understanding business and technical requirements.
- Computer skills to operate a computer, general office equipment, with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Ability and knowledge to operate audio/visual equipment.
- Working knowledge of the Learning Management System (LMS) and the NCVIP Performance Plans on the NC Learning Center.
- Ability to complete our General Instructor course.
- Ability to obtain and maintain commission as a Notary Public.
- Ability to expedite work in a timely manner with a high level of detail and accuracy while communicating effectively and grammatically correct.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and to move tables and chairs to provide a classroom environment.
- Fitness to load and unload supplies/equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel for extended hours, on holidays/weekends, and to extended stay at training/working locations. Accumulated time of travel could equal 6 months.
- A consistent work attendance record.
- We will conduct a criminal background check.
- Bachelor’s degree, and
- 1+ years experience in a training or teaching role, and
- 1+ years experience in a human service, counseling, or training program; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
