Status: Contract Full Time (assignment to December 31, 2024)

Salary Range: $86,443 to $108,052 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits)

The Human Resources team proactively partners with our clients to support them in achieving their business outcomes and create a positive and inclusive work environment and employment experience that is built on trust, respect and teamwork.  We are looking for a Diversity Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our Talent Acquisition team!

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition the Diversity Talent Acquisition Specialist is a valued member of the Talent Acquisition team and will take the lead on implementing strategies aligned to the organization’s DEI strategy, recommendations, and workforce objectives, educate stakeholders on DEI workforce best practices, and build internal & external relationships to achieve the objectives of a diverse workforce that represents our communities of Peel.  Through partnership, collaboration and proactive talent strategies ensure the Region of Peel achieves workforce diversity objectives by finding and attracting the best talent, build diverse talent pools of future leaders, and influence sourcing strategy across the organization.   

 

In this role, you will partner with Talent Acquisition Partners and People Leaders to fully understand talent needs and requirements for the roles and support sourcing qualified candidates. What you will do in this role: 

  • Deliver programs and services to promote talent acquisition and retention strategies, branding strategies and best practices to support our diverse talent and culture of inclusion and advance workforce representation.
  • Implement strategies and recommendations from the Pay, Promotion and Recruitment Review and Diversity Recruitment Strategy to continue building and advancing inclusive recruitment program.
  • Provide strategic advice on recruitment related to Diversity Equity and Inclusion, lead and advise workforce planning and targeted workforce development strategies for specific programs and business priorities.
  • Ongoing process review to identify and make recommendations to eliminate systemic barriers and inequities in the recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Develops evaluation tools to measure and monitor the effectiveness of programs and initiatives in achievement of workforce representation objectives.
  • Use metrics and data to support diversity recruitment recommendations, along with organizational and market insights to support and advance DEI Strategy.
  • Build effective working relationships with employment assistance agencies and community organizations serving marginalized or underrepresented peel communities to provide access to opportunities and jobs.
  • Provide research and share best-in-class programs, market intelligence and knowledge, tools, training, and initiatives to support inclusive recruitment efforts to reflect a diverse workforce and attract talent to the Region of Peel.
  • Support the alignment of diversity and next generation recruitment initiatives with the current and emerging needs of the organization.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal partners, staff working groups, committees and community agencies focused on having a workforce representative of our peel communities.
  • Prepare reports and updates to share insights, plans and progress towards the achievement of workforce representation objective.
  • Work in partnership with the Talent Acquisition Partners to manage talent strategies effectively and efficiently and support specific business needs.
  • Work with HR partners and partners in the Office of Culture and Inclusion to identify and action plan around key themes of DEI that come out of key employee feedback instruments such as the “How You Are Doing” engagement survey, workforce census, exit interviews, and various employee focus groups. 
  • Partner closely with Marketing and Communications to highlight the many ways the Region of Peel embraces DEI within the organization and in the community and confirm our brand is updated and representative of our inclusive culture and values.

What the role requires: 

  • Graduation from a university or college with an emphasis in Human Resources Management. CHRP would be considered an asset.  Minimum five years of senior leadership and executive recruiting experience within public sector and unionized environment.  Combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum five years of strong progressive diversity recruiting, specifically in the creation and implementation of strategies to source and recruit diverse candidates
  • Previous success in sourcing candidates using a combination of sources including social media as well as working knowledge of effective and legal recruitment/selection techniques and an understanding of HR practices and legislation
  • Experience facilitating workforce development programs and delivering educational and presentation materials on diverse and inclusive hiring
  • Experience developing and updating corporate DEI policy and procedures
  • Experience working with diverse talent to improve access to services and employment
  • Experience working with variety of stakeholders at all levels in the organization

Skills/Abilities: 

  • Advanced verbal and written communication, presentation, and human relations skills with the ability to communicate persuasively and effectively at all organizational levels
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel Skills and experience in data collection, data analysis and storytelling to support performance indicators and track progress to improve diversity and inclusion hiring
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills and the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to collect, organize, evaluate, and analyze complex information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective team-player and strong collaborator
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and pro-actively identify recommendations and solutions
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner within a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to deal with shifting/changing priorities
  • Knowledge of project management practices, tools and techniques
  • Lived experience as a member of Black, racialized and/or equity-deserving community would be an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

*In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 7120 Hurontario Street, Mississauga ON worksite.  The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.  

 

Hours of Work:  35 hours per week
