Position Summary:

The City of Portland is seeking a highly motivated Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Training Analyst to oversee the DEI Training Program for the Vibrant Communities Portfolio, which includes Portland Parks and Recreation, the Children’s Levy, the City Arts Program, and Vibrant Communities Support Services. This role is focused on supporting DEI training by connecting employees to learning opportunities, coordinating and expanding existing training programs, and tracking DEI training participation and outcomes. The DEI Training Analyst will collaborate with subject matter experts and our Professional Development Trainer to ensure learning opportunities are accessible, timely, impactful, and relevant to a wide audience of employees. Additionally, this position will serve as a consultant to bureau managers and supervisors as they create and implement policies and processes that enhance the delivery of DEI development opportunities.

What you’ll get to do:

Develop and implement DEI training, including delivering or facilitating a variety of DEI training and development opportunities for employees.

Identify partner agencies and external resources to provide training.

Apply emerging training trends, new technologies, concepts, and techniques to enhance DEI training.

Identify and develop additional avenues for employee DEI development, such as conferences, mentorship programs, committee work, and coaching.

Collaborate with management and staff to determine DEI training needs and identify appropriate training to help maintain a culture of inclusion and live into the City’s values.

Utilize the City’s Learning Management System to track all aspects of training, from scheduling and registration to data entry and reporting.

Support diversity, equity, and inclusion training by connecting employees to various learning opportunities.

Coordinate and expand existing training programs to ensure broad access and impact.

Track DEI training participation and outcomes to assess program effectiveness.

To Qualify

The following minimum qualifications are required for this position:

• Experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating trainings focused on diversity, equity, inclusion, and/or multiculturalism.

• Experience in coordinating organization-wide employee development programs and policies with a strong emphasis on applying an equity lens.

• Ability to collaborate with diverse subject matter experts to coordinate and deliver inclusive training and professional development resources, effectively navigating the competing needs and priorities of adult learners in both virtual and in-person settings.

• Experience in analyzing complex or technical issues, evaluating alternatives, and recommending effective policies, strategies, and courses of action.

• Ability to communicate clearly, logically, and persuasively both verbally and in writing, including the preparation of concise and comprehensive reports, correspondence, and other documents.
