Full-Time Diversity Counselor – 9 Months
Job Description
The University of North Texas in the heart of Denton Texas is seeking a Diversity Counselor (9-months).
Job Duties Includes:
- Intake/ICON as evidenced by 1 audit per semestera. Conducts a minimum of 2 ICONS per week
b. Client’s concerns and goals for seeking services are clearly stated
c. Assessment of Harm to Self or Others Data Form completed, if risk present
d. Plan (next appointment date/time) clearly indicated on Initial Data Form
e. Utilizes CCAPS data in decision making
f. ICON data form completed and signed by the end of next business day
g. Success Plan completed
h. Appropriate levels of care utilized; make appropriate referrals as indicated - Individual Counseling as evidenced by 1 audit per semestera. Conduct a minimum of 20 counseling sessions per week
b. Clinical interventions documented
c. Documentation of risk assessment, if indicated
d. Success plans updated as clinically indicated
e. CCAPS assessed every session
f. Evidenced based interventions utilized
g. Appropriate level of care
h. Provides culturally competent individual counseling for BIPOC students
i. Make appropriate referrals as indicated
j. Aware of off campus and on campus resources - Group Counseling/Workshopsa. Facilitates identity-based workshops and group counseling designed to provide mental health support and education to students
b. Markets therapy group or workshops
c. Evaluates effectiveness/satisfaction of therapy groups and/or workshops - Crisis Counselinga. Available for crisis counseling in office as needed
b. Available for additional crisis times as needed
c. Documentation of crisis data form completed by end of the day
d. Completion of safety plan as needed
e. Utilizes supervision and consultation as appropriate
f. Keeps administrator and front desk informed of hospitalizations
g. Gets releases signed for external referrals and placed in file
h. Coordinates additional follow up and transport as needed
i. Obtains coverage during planned absences - Teamworka. Available for after hour and weekend special assignments as needed
b. Volunteers for special projects
c. Volunteers to support/cover colleagues (i.e., crisis, etc.)
d. Collaborates and fosters positive internal and external working relationships - Professional Development/Ethics/Legal Standardsa. Maintains CEU requirements and personal CE file as required by state licensure board
b. Maintains active license or working towards completion within 2 years
c. Active in professional organizations (membership, presentations, publications)
d. Aware of and maintains ethical standards of profession
e. Seeks consultation when faced with ethical dilemmas - Multicultural Humilitya. Participates in department and university-wide multicultural training
b. Clinical documentation reflects multicultural sensitivity and awareness
c. Aware of multicultural dynamics in the workplace
d. Attends a minimum of two external and two internal trainings - Professionalisma. Promptness at all meetings
b. Promptness for scheduled work hours
c. Keeps supervisor informed of absences, lateness or schedule conflicts
d. Maintains Titanium Schedule to reflect work schedule accurately
e. Participates in department committees as assigned
f. Positive work relationships
g. Responds to emails by the end of the next business day
h. Submits time sheets weekly
i. Reliable attendance - Supervisiona. Provides supervision and training as assigned
b. Available for unofficial training and consultation
c. Participates in training activities as assigned
d. Documents supervision activities
e. Receptive to supervision and participates actively in personal supervision - Liaison/Outreach Dutiesa. Manages liaison duties as assigned
b. Is current on local, national and global issues and trends in diversity and inclusion and applies emerging information to inform services outreach, and training opportunities
c. Provides outreach services designed to provide mental health education to students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents
d. Other outreach as assigned
e. Marketing outreach
f. Evaluates outreach programming as indicated
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Clinical or Educational Psychology or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College Counseling Center experience
- Experience utilizing Titanium software
- Bilingual
- Full unrestricted license by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or equivalent.
Required License/Registration/Certification:
- Licensed by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate, Licensed Master Social Worker, or equivalent.
- If licensed at the Associate level, must obtain full licensure within 24 months of employment.
