Full-Time District Manager
Job Description
Hello,
The BLM’s California Desert District is advertising the District Manger position located in Palm Spring CA. This is one of the most challenging and fast-paced districts in the Bureau with the California Desert District responsible for managing 11 million acres of unique and diverse public land, rich in conservation, energy, mineral, recreational, cultural, historical, archaeological, and environmental resources. The district spans across 8 counties, including one of the most populated counties in the nation, Los Angeles County, and has field offices in Barstow, El Centro, Needles, Palm Springs, and Ridgecrest. The district also includes the California Desert Conservation Area which was established by Congress in 1976 through the Federal Land Policy and Management Act, along with multiple National Monuments and an extensive National Conservation Lands portfolio. Significant population pressures, including high levels of wildland urban interface and high demand for a variety of multiple uses, make the California Desert District one of the most complex districts in the BLM. Its geography makes the district a prime location for solar and wind energy development as well as mining and mineral production. The variety of recreational opportunities available on the public lands managed by the California Desert District is tremendous. Visitors can enjoy hunting, hiking, camping, off-highway vehicles, rockhounding and sightseeing. The district is also home to many military installations located on withdrawn public lands. There is never a dull moment.
Our BLM California Desert District – District Manger position is currently open and closes on March 4th.
