Full-Time District Engineering Technician – Entry Level!
Job Description
- Serve as a project inspector conducting independent inspections of driveway permits and encroachments.
- Review safety and environmental items and perform routine to moderately-complex inspections of roadway and utility construction processes and materials to assure compliance with contract agreements, standards, and specifications.
- Evaluate and apply your engineering judgment to plan interpretations.
- Establish and maintain positive communications between technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public.
- Traverse rough terrain when evaluating highway construction.
- Apply a safety philosophy and program to all operations.
- Accurately maintain daily work records.
- Operate a state vehicle.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments.
- Knowledge of standards and specifications and plan reading experience.
- Computer skills using a laptop, iPad, Microsoft Office, and software.
- Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and/or construction surveying.
- Ability to work in close proximity to high volumes of traffic and heavy construction equipment.
- Safety toe shoes.
- Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field; or
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
