This role entails direct involvement with donors, mentoring students and management of the scholarship and scholar programs, Wallace and Spirit Strong. There is great importance placed on relationships for this person, creating, nurturing and appreciating them. Events revolving around the programs and scholarships need an organizer focused on logistics as well as participants in the scholar program on both sides, their impact on each other should be the shining star. This person should be aware of the significance of scholarships to increase public recognition and knowledge about them. This person needs to be captivating, keeping events interesting but allowing the impacts and successes achieved to take center stage. This person will be directly involved in mentoring students in the programs through the scholar programs and financial assistance needs.

Summary of Responsibilities
Provides leadership and strategic direction for leveraging scholarship funds and scholar programs as key drivers for recruitment, retention, and student success.
Essential Functions
- Works with strategic partners on developing strategy and with donors to maximize scholarship dollars supporting strategic enrollment goals, including both recruitment and retention. Represents the college at internal and external meetings that involve scholarships and scholarship programs.
- Develops and markets the scholarship application to prospective and current students. Communicates with students seeking financial assistance providing the appropriate guidance, resources, and tools for funding their education.
- Manages scholar programs including candidate selection, donor-recipient engagement activities, and student mentoring. Packages applications for department and donor-selected scholarships and work with departments/donors to select recipients.
- Writes annual reports and prepare presentation materials on scholarship programs including financial summaries for donors, companies, the college, and university audits.
- Works with stakeholders within and beyond the college to identify new and/or innovative strategies to better support students with financial need, which may include leveraging existing university resources, advocating for new/additional resources, and using data to inform student success initiatives related to access and affordability.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Minimum Experience
Six (6) years of experience in academic, student support services in higher education or related field, with two (2) years of experience in a leadership role
Preferred Experience
Knowledge of Scholarship Universe software.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Understanding how to work with diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and other professionals across campus.
- Proficient with MS Office programs.
- Ability to manage a student services program in a higher education setting.
- Comfortable with public speaking in a professional yet engaging manner.
- Capable to mentor students involved in the scholarship process.
- Adept with project management and event organization.
Pay Info
Range $60,000-75,000/yr, adjusted based on qualifications
