Summary
A Director of Product Management is responsible for the oversight of all global PM activities related to their product portfolio, while directly managing the North American, Regional Product Management team.
A Director of Product Management is accountable for providing overall portfolio management and business leadership for multiple product life cycles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of North American Regional Product Manager by providing tools, guidance, and oversight, allowing them to fully manage the life cycles of their individual product lines. This includes:
- Discovery & Innovation
- New Product Planning
- New Product Introduction
- Post-Launch Product Management
- Oversee the regional products, including those outside of North America, in order to insure consistency and/or appropriate regional specific adjustments to a product within the marketplace.
- Manage the revenue and profitability growth of the entire product portfolio. This will include not only a North American view, but also a global approach to insure all products are meeting or exceeding expectations.
- Provide oversight to all Regional Product Management teams to ensure all activities are being completed to launch and manage products successfully within each region.
- Lead the global strategic planning process, while also driving the creation of detailed product roadmaps for the portfolio, and product lines.
- Provide regular dashboards and communication to management teams detailing the portfolios current status within the marketplace.
- Provide guidance and decision-making on all business cases for the entire portfolio, and ensure that they are properly prepared for executive team presentation and approval.
- Provide oversight to the New Product Development process and ensure that projects, research and design (R&D), and engineering resources are prioritized in accordance with overall portfolio strategies, goals and objectives.
- Allocate and prioritize resources, cross-functional or otherwise, across all product lines and in accordance with the overall portfolio strategies, goals and objectives.
- Ensure that all promotional, launch, and marketing activities tie with the overall global portfolio strategy and facilitate proper communication and collaboration with all applicable marketing resources.
- Manage all business oversight for the overall product portfolio, and establish appropriate metrics and key performance indicators to ensure that the portfolio revenue and profitability growth is in line with strategic and company objectives.
- Represent the North American Regional Product Management team to the executive team.
Requirements
- 10+ years experience in a Product Management or business leadership function.
- Deep experience working in and leading cross-functional teams.
- The ability to understand, analyze, and manage a P&L for multiple products, across the globe.
- Strong business and financial acumen.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- The ability to travel both domestically and internationally as required.
