DIRECTOR OF SECURITY
The Director of Security will be responsible for developing and implementing a security program to ensure the protection of all staff, patients, visitors, and property for Planned Parenthood of Illinois. Plans, coordinates, administers, and continuously evaluates the security operations of all facilities in accordance with guidelines and policies, for compliance. Serves as the principal liaison to outside agencies in safety, security, and emergency preparedness. Ensures customer service and compliance standards are maintained by the organization’s mission in performing job duties. Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service.
Essential Functions:
1. Develops, implements, and administers a comprehensive safety and security plan for the organization
2. Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational security goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and standard operating procedures for the organization
3. Serves as the security officer or oversees the security function for facilities and special events as needed
4. Provides security support to the CEO and CMO at high profile public event
5. Develops standard operating procedures and guidance for interacting with members of the opposition
6. Ensures agency compliance with PPIL and Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) safety and security guidelines and policies 7. Acts as the liaison with PPFA’s security staff and partners
8. Develops and coordinates emergency preparedness programs, disaster recovery plans, and safety related drills at all facilities (bomb, anthrax, fire, etc.) and leads table top drills with senior management
9. Develops and conducts security awareness training and prevention for current employees and at new employee orientation and ensures appropriate organization-wide compliance
10. Conducts and documents annual security audits of all organizational facilities
11. Works with the Senior Director of Facilities and Project Management to coordinate the design and implementation of physical security measures at all organizational sites
12. Works with the Senior Director of Information Technology on cyber security safety protocols and responses to any breaches
13. Manages any outside security vendor relationships
14. Works with the Risk and Quality Management Department to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of existing safety and security programs, and recommend areas of improvement that will ensure the highest level of security for PPIL staff and assets and the lowest risk of loss and liability to the organization
15. Monitors security conditions and conducts ongoing analysis of data received from both external and internal sources, advises administration on appropriate risk mitigation strategies, and disseminates security alerts to appropriate management and staff
16. Develops and maintains relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement and regulatory agencies and ensures that PPIL follows all laws and regulations
17. Oversees security incident response planning and investigates breaches; assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches
18. Prepares and submits timely and accurate incident reports per PPFA and regulatory requirements
19. Takes after hours calls (24/7) to provide management support for security and facilities emergencies
20. Articulates the vision specific to security and the organization as a whole by empowering all staff to see their role in keeping PPIL safe
Other Responsibilities:
21. May perform Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance monitoring, take reasonable and prudent actions to eliminate identified hazards, ensure employees receive appropriate safety training and foster a safe work environment
22. May participate or conduct exit processing for high level positions or when security may pose a greater risk

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Criminal Justice, or related area or equivalent experience in lieu of education.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years’ experience in any of the following: healthcare security, military security, or law enforcement is required.
Personal and Professional Qualities:
An understanding of and commitment to the operating goals of Planned Parenthood is essential.
Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends, and must be able to travel throughout the state, as job dictates. Must possess the ability to think strategically and achieve organizations goals relating to position.
Must have keen observation skills and be alert and aware of their surroundings at all times. Must display professional conduct at all times and be able to appropriately deal with adverse situations if necessary including the general public and members of the opposition. Must have the ability to quickly report, immediately, upon notification, to all agency locations and off-site locations in preparation for or in response to, a security situation.
