Job Description
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Executive Director, coordinates and oversees all nursing services for the Plant Memorial Home to ensure that residents receive proper care and all necessary services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Oversees and implements nursing policies and procedures for the organization, monitors their effectiveness, and makes changes as needed.
- Interviews prospective admissions for appropriate placement in the assisted living facility relative to medical findings. Assesses new residents for level of independence and develops service plans based on assessment and IDT conference.
- Provides daily supervision and guidance, interviews and selects prospective hires, and trains or provides for the training of new employees.
- Performs special projects and other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.
- Regular attendance at the workplace is required.
- Oversees all nursing staff and provides monthly education/ in-services on regulations pertinent to resident care to promote nursing staff education and quality nursing care.
- Develops nursing goals and objectives to increase resident satisfaction, improve nursing skills, and increase employee satisfaction through ownership and empowerment.
- Works with residents and families to ensure they receive proper care. Communicates with physicians to convey significant health information.
- Collaborates with nursing and other staff to effectively implement service plans. Monitors residents and follows up on clinical needs.
- Reviews resident records on a monthly basis to determine any change in independence level or clinical needs. Updates service plans as needed based on changes. Documents monthly summary notes on resident status.
- Makes referrals for residents as needed and coordinates services with outside providers.
- Provides on-call clinical and administrative support as needed.
- Conducts bi-annual plan of care meetings with all resident, family members and staff.
- Keeps up to date with all pertinent laws and regulations governing nursing operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Directly supervises all PCA,CNA, and CRMA staff.
Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing and selection, training and development, counseling and discipline, terminating, evaluating performance, and recommending pay increases.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Duties require knowledge equivalent to completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with seven to ten years of increasingly responsible clinical and nursing management experience. Current RN license also required
