Are you an experienced HR leader who is talented in building consensus and commitment toward shared outcomes? Join WSU Vancouver as its campus HR Director and member of the wider WSU system Human Resources team.

Summary of Duties

The WSU Vancouver campus HR Director is a strategic partner who builds consensus and commitment toward shared outcomes. The Director prioritizes, plans, and leads the activities of the HR department, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of policies and procedures. The Director is responsible for developing HR strategies and providing sound advice and consultation to campus leadership, managers, and supervisors. They will also design and ensure effective implementation of workforce planning, talent acquisition, talent management and development, employee engagement, recordkeeping, and employee relations. The Director applies knowledge and expertise to make decisions on complicated issues often requiring proactive intervention as well as exercise appropriate authority in the resolution of complex and difficult human resource issues. The position plans and carries out work independently and with minimum supervision.

Required Qualifications

Positions require a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and six (6) years of progressively responsible relevant experience, which has included at least three (3) years of managerial experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Education and experience can be tailored to fit the specific organizational entity/directorial assignment.

Experience in one or more of the following areas: employee relations, classification/compensation, training, and development, and/or talent acquisition.

Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Experience supervising staff.

Experience interpreting and applying laws, rules, policies, and procedures. Ability to interact with large groups and individuals at all work levels.

Proficiency in the use of computers and software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Human Resource experience in a higher education setting.

• Experience conducting investigations and preparing findings and reports.

• Experience working with a diverse workforce and/or equity initiatives.

• A record showing commitment to customer service and the application of appropriate flexibility in response to issues and opposing points of view.

• SHRM-SCP/SPHR, SHRM-CP/PHR, or other HR certification.

• Experience with an HR enterprise management platform such as Workday.

The position will be on-campus with the possibility of 1-2 days of telework (after the first 6 months).

Monthly Salary:

Minimum: $8,145 ($97,740/year); Midpoint: $10,440 ($125,280/year); Maximum: $12,735 ($152,820/year), Grade 10 Zone 3. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Successful candidates typically begin up to the mid-point of the salary range.
