Full-Time Director of Engineering
Job Description
How will this role have an impact?
As a Director of Engineering, you will help lead cross-functional projects, support building engineering teams, engineering capabilities, implement innovative technology solutions, and drive necessary change.
This role will report to our Vice President of Application Engineering.
What will you do?
- Understand business goals and industry standards trends
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills, including the ability to lead change efforts through effective communication and persuasion
- Drive forward the engineering teams
- Work closely with the product management organization to develop and deliver on roadmaps
- Be a strong mentor and coach to the teams
- Develop and maintain a knowledge graph for engineering education, reflecting the needs from different product areas, across engineering tenure and level
We are looking for someone with:
- 10+ years of experience in the engineering field as a software engineer
- 5+ years of experience in people management
- Passion for recruiting and building up first-class engineering teams
- Experience and commitment to leading, developing, growing, and inspiring a representative, equitable, respectful team and workplace
- Experience in product quality and driving product excellence
- Active experience in the last couple of years across SaaS, PaaS or IaaS
- Experience engineering highly scalable applications and web services
- Experience with Amazon AWS. Optional other cloud providers.
- Experience working with API documents, calling APIs using scripts, and testing APIs
- Experience with distributed version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Good understanding of the Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SSDLC)
- Knowledge of Agile-support tools such as Jira, Confluence, BitBucket, Bamboo, etc.
- Experience working in environments where Agile, Scrum / Kanban, DevOps, TDD, BDD, and Shift Left work practices are used and champion of these methodologies, leading and encouraging the practice of them
- Bachelors in Computer Science or a related field
