Ameresco is looking for a Director of Storage Solutions to be a part of the solar development team of internal and external resources to develop a significant portfolio of energy storage projects. This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Framingham, MA.
Responsibilities:
Strategically identify, lead and drive project opportunities to assist in growing our portfolio of renewable assets that include solar + storage and standalone storage solutions;
Develop a plan to optimally locate storage assets throughout the East Region (Maine to Florida). This includes site origination, RFP responses, and solutions for existing customers facilities for both in front of the meter and behind the meter projects;
Evaluate financial models to determine business feasibility for battery storage opportunities. Make recommendations for go / no-go decisions;
Participate in regulatory and policy discussions through industry associations, DPU hearings, and state level programs as well as keeping track of utility and federal incentives;
Knowledge of ISO-NE, PJM and NYISO processes, incentives and ancillary revenue streams;
Source, manage and interact with designated market participants for the operation of new assets added to the portfolio;
Research, track, and define market opportunities for the deployment of energy storage products in conjunction with the dynamic regulatory landscape;
Gather and analyze project information including: utility rates and ISO services; utility data and existing building and site information for existing facilities that may host BESS; potential utility company, federal, state, and local subsidies such as rebates, grants, and other market incentives;
Understand and recommend BESS manufacturers, track technology advancements with associated costs and work closely with other internal members including engineering, policy, development and construction teams;
and
Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in engineering or finance
Minimum seven years of renewable energy project development and at least three years proven energy storage development experience
Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated understanding of current engineering principles associated with analysis of power systems, electrical interconnection, battery energy storage systems, microgrid controls, data monitoring/reporting systems.
Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel required including analyzing financial proformas, dispatch schedules and energy arbitrage.
Understanding project finance and how to underwrite and project economics.
Knowledge of utility revenue streams and participation in ISO markets.
Project development experience a plus.
Detail oriented with ability to work collaboratively with team members nearby and remotely, managing multiple tasks simultaneously
Strong organization skills
Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
Some travel required to meet project requirements.
