Full-Time Director of Electoral Partnerships
Job Description
About Murmuration/What We Do
Murmuration is a political strategy organization that is transforming the politics of education so that every child can benefit from equal access to equitable and high-quality public schools.
We empower campaigns, advocates, and organizers to better engage and mobilize communities to demand improvements to the public education system. We advise and support our partners in their efforts to plan and execute successful, data-driven electoral, organizing, and advocacy campaigns so that together we can transform the politics of education. And, we build political influence, craft strategies, leverage data and develop technology that enable our partners to accelerate progress, particularly those in traditionally marginalized communities.
Who We Are
Our team includes experts and innovators in data, analytics, and strategy. We are former teachers, organizers, data scientists, nonprofit executives, political campaign veterans, and more – and we are looking for people whose passion and expertise can help improve our work and realize our vision.
Background
Murmuration’s role is to support organizations and communities through our political systems, to raise the profile of the issue of public education such that more Americans will prioritize the needs of our students, and to leverage politics to help to create the broader context in which those on the front lines with our children can thrive. We are focused on transforming the politics of education — partnering with organizations across the country committed to organizing parents and communities around the issues of public education and educational equity, electing to office and holding accountable local leaders who will make improving public K-12 schools a priority, and advocating for policy changes with the goal of improving outcomes for children. To do this, we believe that it is critical that all of the political stakeholders– electoral organizations, advocacy and organizing groups, charter associations, networks of schools, districts, elected officials, and voters — to contribute to a strong and politically savvy education sector that works together toward a common vision of improving public education.
About the Position
Murmuration is looking for a Director of Electoral Partnerships to join our fast-growing team as a senior leader on the Partnerships team and managing director within the organization. This role is primarily responsible for supporting the relationship management across all of our electoral campaign partners, as well as ensuring that the team and the organization have a deep understanding of our partners, their mission, and their work to ensure that Murmuration is best positioned to support them in the long-term. You are responsible for ensuring Murmuration’s partners take full advantage of our technology product, m{insights, as well as other products and services we offer, through the support and management of a talented and dynamic team of Partnership Success Managers (PSMs), who support partners in states across the country.
Through the management of Partnership Success Managers and your direct partner support, this team will serve as a consistent resource for partners throughout their experience with Murmuration – from onboarding to ongoing use of m{insights, to more fully utilizing our analytic tools and supports designed and built by our Data and Data Science teams. Additionally, you will work with the Vice President of Partnerships to shape the vision, strategic plan, norms and expectations for the Partnerships team.
In some cases, specifically with high-stakes national partnerships, you will serve as the first point of contact for these partners, resolving questions as necessary, coordinating support resources across the organization, passing requests off to the appropriate internal parties when necessary, and following up to ensure resolution.
Note: At Murmuration, we are committed to becoming an even more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. To this end, all staff members are expected to sit on and actively participate in DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) subcommittees. These subcommittees work to ensure that DEI is embedded in everything we do.

- Grow and strengthen the m{community. Partner with the VP of Partnerships, External Affairs, and other program teams to:
- Understand, identify, and secure the electoral campaign partners necessary for Murmuration to achieve our mission and vision
- Develop strategies to strengthen the community beyond the m{gathering – shared experiences (e.g. webinars), fostering relationships in focus geographies
- Create opportunities for best practice and knowledge sharing across and among partners
- Share use cases (positive and constructive) across the m{community
- Enabling Murmuration to have a network-wide pulse on electoral activities to drive our programmatic planning and partner support:

- Create appropriate visibility around electoral partner engagements to be shared across the Partnerships team and broader organization to maximize collaboration and access to resources
- Managing the Electoral Partnerships Team:
- Be an excellent personnel manager, with strong and actionable delegation experience; provide constructive feedback to direct reports, and help team members develop their professional skills and career
- Help manage and coordinate Murmuration’s day-to-day electoral campaign projects, including managing team resources and planning for scalable growth in order to provide continued high-quality partner support
- Set quarterly and annual impact metrics and OKRs for the Electoral Partnerships team in collaboration with Partnerships team leadership
