Job Description

As the Director of DevOps at ThreatConnect, you will grow and lead a team of engineers while being responsible for the DevOps strategy necessary to build and deliver a world-class 24×7 SaaS platform for our global clients.

In this role, you will define the team strategy and be accountable for the team’s plans while focusing on deadlines and deliverables. You will manage the DevOps team and their work on the design, development, deployment, and monitoring of our production systems. You will work closely with the development teams as well as Customer Success and Support teams to define inter-team processes and interactions between teams. You will help plan and implement tools that grow our platform in a stable, sustainable, and scalable manner.

In this role you’ll get to…

  • Establish the vision and strategy for a growing Devops team
  • Work between Engineering and other teams in the organization to define and drive process
  • Recommend and implement scalable and measurable solutions

1-3-6-12 Month Plan

In the first month, we’ll expect you to…

  • Learn about ThreatConnect’s DevOps/Engineering processes
  • Get acclimated into the role, understand the tools and different stakeholders cross functionally
  • Get to know your direct reports by understanding their needs and pain points
  • Sync with the EVP of Engineering to discuss team strategy and forward plan

At 3 months, we’ll expect you to…

  • Have a thorough understanding of existing ThreatConnect environment, processes, and tools
  • Begin building a multi-dimensional DevOps strategy with support from leadership
  • Support DevOps team members through bottlenecks and blockers as they arrive
  • Take over management of general DevOps responsibilities such as personnel scheduling, hiring, release readiness planning, and maintenance planning

At 6 months, we’ll expect you to…

  • Fully responsible for DevOps team management with some oversight from leadership
  • Finalize building DevOps strategy with guidance from leadership
  • Discuss and report on high-level DevOps strategy and metrics with key stakeholders
  • Discuss hiring and growth strategy with engineering leadership

At 12 months, we’ll expect you to…

  • Fully responsible for DevOps team management with no oversight from leadership

About the Team

  • Currently, DevOps is a 5 member US based team. We are looking to expand the team in size and geography through 2021 and beyond
  • The team works remotely in geographically diverse areas
  • Slack is our preferred method of communication. During the work day, we regularly communicate in private channels
  • JIRA is where all work is tracked and prioritized

Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Experience with proven hands on track record with technical leadership and managing Operations or DevOps teams
  • Previous technical experience in operations or DevOps
  • Experienced as strategic leader
  • Experience managing secure cloud environments in accordance with corporate security policies and certifications such as SOC2 and ISO 27001
  • Proficiency with cloud infrastructure providers such as AWS
  • Experience managing container based environments with Docker
  • Experience with configuration management systems such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms or similar, such as Gitlab, Travis CI, or Jenkins
  • Experience prioritizing and managing workflows and tasks with a ticketing system such as JIRA

Desired Skills:

  • Experience managing an environment with distributed web services
  • Basic technical knowledge such as: Linux, Docker, SQL, Distributed web services, Elasticsearch, and/or Networking
  • Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure as code systems
