Job Description

The Office of Academic Affairs at Oregon State University is seeking a Director of Assessment with significant experience in successfully managing accreditation processes and academic program assessment and a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Accreditation recognizes higher education institutions for performance, integrity, and quality to merit the confidence of the educational community and the public. Oregon State University’s (OSU) accreditation is a priority of the very highest level.

To maintain NWCCU accreditation, OSU must meet standards and requirements, including writing comprehensive University self-evaluation reports for review by peer evaluators and participate in site-visits. The spirit of accreditation is the principle of continuous assessment and improvement of student learning outcomes. The accreditation process provides opportunities for self-examination and self-evaluation, to highlight strengths, reflect on challenges, and document how they will be addressed in the future.

Ongoing accreditation and undergraduate program assessment responsibilities are assigned to staff in the Office of Academic Affairs. The Director of Assessment will:

  • Build and maintain strong networks with University partners working on assessment and accreditation.
  • Manage and advance assessment of OSU’s academic programs.
  • Write reports utilized by university leadership, stakeholders, and the NWCCU.
  • Manage the planning, coordination, execution, and maintenance of activities to assess the University’s effectiveness in serving its various constituents, including the NWCCU.
  • Promote the use of assessment results in ongoing planning and decision-making necessary for OSU to achieve mission fulfillment and maintain university accreditation.
  • Exercise the highest level of effective, ethical, and timely decision-making, often under tight deadlines and pressures.
