Full-Time Director of Annual Giving
Job Description
Summary:
The American Institute of Physics is seeking a Director of Annual Giving who will collaborate within the Institute and with volunteers to develop, implement, and strategically lead annual fund development programs to grow the donor base.
As an expert in their field, the Director will excel at frontline fundraising, develop strategy and infrastructure to achieve successful outcomes. This position will focus on pipeline development, moves management, and documented systems to deepen relationships with individuals and their engagement with AIP through multiple giving channels and events.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage a portfolio of high-capacity mid-level donors.
- Craft, test, and revise messaging that advances the culture of philanthropy within the AIP donor base.
- Collaborate with the development team and appropriate AIP professionals to develop a comprehensive communications plan which coordinates donor acquisition and renewal with direct mail and email solicitations.
- Support other development writing in collaboration with the Executive Director and development staff.
- Prepare monthly reports on progress toward goals to date, and deliver quarterly, in-depth analysis on solicitation results—including but not limited to donor acquisition, response rate, retention, upgrades, average gift size, and cost per dollar raised.
- Case development, including writing and editing.
*This role is currently 100% remote and will eventually switch back to our office environment as the Institute continues to respond to the coronavirus, government mandates and considers the best action to keep the AIP staff safe.

Qualifications
- B.A. or B.S. degree or higher with at least 5 years nonprofit annual giving or resource development experience.
- Minimum of 5 years nonprofit annual giving or resource development experience
- Excellent oral, public speaking, and written communication.
- An energetic, well-organized, and detailed individual who has a strong record of leadership, teamwork, and success.
