Description
Gryphon Scientific, a small and growing Federal contract research organization is looking for an experienced, hands-on leader for its accounting department of three staff. As Director of Accounting, you will be a critical part of our Finance, Accounting, and Contracting Team (FACT) that manages the company’s financial health and provides pre-and post-award contracting assistance to our staff of 80 scientists and support personnel.
Duties
- Oversee the daily operations of an Accounting Department of three staff dedicated to AP and Payroll and one support staff member shared with contracts
- Direct supervision of the AP Manager
- Manage all AR functions (invoicing, indirect rate adjustments, reporting on unbilled and deferred revenue, etc)
- Oversee all audits (yearly audited financials, pre-award audits, and GSA rate audits; collaborate with VP of Finance on indirect rate audit)
- Manage cash flow and banking transactions including bank reconciliations, ACH and wire transfers as well as LOC transactions.
- Manage company insurances—professional liability and workers comp.
- Liaise as needed with our tax accounting firm
- Develop accounting policies and procedures as needed
- Collaborate with Director of Contracts on proposal pricing and contract/grant budgeting
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field. Master’s degree in business administration, public administration or other relevant field, preferred.
- 5-8 years of progressive financial operations responsibility with at least two years in a finance leadership role.
- Demonstrated competence in budget planning, financial reporting and internal controls,
- Proficiency with reporting tools, ERP systems (ideally Unanet) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with Federal contract and grant accounting principles; solid working knowledge of Federal contracting legislation and regulations including FAR and CAS
- Ability to effectively supervise and build a high performance culture

Salary Range: $110,000 – $125,000
The actual salary will be determined based on factors such as degree attainment, major specialization, and years of relevant experience.
