Our Information Technology division is looking for a Director, Information Technology Solutions to lead a team comprised of project managers, relationship managers and delivery specialists who work closely with each department to create the platforms, applications, and ideas that enable us to achieve our goal of building a community for life by enabling digital government through technology.

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this position is a member of the Information Technology leadership team (DLT). The Director of Information Technology (IT) Solutions is responsible for designing, developing and implementing IT solutions for the Region of Peel in alignment with the Region’s Strategic objectives and Digital Strategy.
An integrative thinker, the Director will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to deliver key IT projects in alignment with the service outcomes of each department.
What you will do in this role:
- Delivering a holistic solution for any Regional services identified for improvement or transformation, enabling clients to achieve their desired outcomes within their desired budgets.
- Leading the development and execution of platform and non-platform technology solutions that deliver client value and lasting business impact.
- Leading a team of portfolio managers who are responsible for project management, execution, ongoing milestone/deliverables tracking, communication, and key performance metrics.
- Ensuring that the Division delivers highly effective IT Program management services and that projects are delivered on schedule, on budget and on scope, and incorporate proper change management and benefits management.
- Identifying, analyzing and mitigating technology implementation risks (e.g. data and maintenance standards, business process standardization) and work across departments with senior leaders to develop solutions promoting a commitment to new approaches and initiatives to resolve divisional/departmental challenges.
- Partnering with stakeholders to continually assess and improve internal processes and champion opportunities for enhancing service delivery and the development of complex business solutions such as integrated technology, throughout Regional operations.
- Participating in strategic planning, tactical operation planning, and the development of contingency operation plans for supported systems and environments.
- Leading and supporting the prioritization of projects and programs within the portfolios and reporting on the overall health of client project portfolios through status reports, metrics and key performance indicators.
- Ensuring that IT implementations are aligned with approved client service business plans, are prioritized and scheduled to optimize the utilization of Regional resources and that risks have been appropriately identified and reasonably mitigated.
What the role requires:
- University Degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science) supplemented by a minimum of 10 years of progressive IT and business work experience with a broad range of exposure to various technical environments and business segments or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
- A minimum 8 years progressive change and people leadership experience with a proven ability to mentor, coach, engage, motivate and influence diverse teams, including indirect resourcing.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing the SalesForce platform, is an asset.
- Expertise in leading large-scale technology implementations and ability to oversee and handle complex and multiple projects.
- Combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to move seamlessly between strategic and operational thinking and strategy development and tactical execution.
- Expertise in organizational change management and change leadership with large corporate initiatives is required.
- Strategic negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to influence others to achieve outcomes.
- Advanced systems and critical thinking, conceptual and problem solving abilities to identify and analyze issues and risks, develop solutions, influence decision-making and promote a commitment to new approaches and innovative solutions.
- Strong influence, political acumen and adaptability to work in an environment with changing priorities, short timelines, and limited resources.
- Strong knowledge of government roles, structures, policies and procedures and awareness of the political environment in which the Region of Peel operates.
- Demonstrated strong presentation and facilitation skills including the ability to present to various audiences within the organization, Regional Council, and external groups, including other governments, as required.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills and ability to synthesize, analyze and clarify complex ideas and material, and formulate them into clear, plain language and present to a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated tenacity and service orientation with an ability to understand and manage complex relationships within the context of broader issues impacting service quality.
- Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, relationship building, consulting, negotiation, conflict resolution skills and political and business acumen to identify and respond appropriately to varying situations.
- A solid understanding of performance measurement and an ability to evaluate trends in order to provide recommended process improvement changes to enhance operational efficiencies.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias.

In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton Ontario worksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
