Full-Time DIRECTOR, GENDER EQUITY INITIATIVES
Job Description
The Office of Equity & Inclusion is recruiting for an Executive Assistant to the Executive Deputy Commissioner (HRA), M-II to function as a Director of Gender Equity Initiatives, who will:
• Implement strategic initiatives, including fostering a culture that is equitable, diverse, and inclusive, while partnering with Agency leaders and staff to ensure programming supports DEI values and strategic goals; Operationalize a gender equity plan agency-wide through collaboration and with agreement and participation from leadership and staff at all organizational tiers to advance gender equity at DSS/HRA/DHS, while being aware of intersectionality with other characteristics such as race, sexual orientation and income.
• Act as an agency-wide ambassador for diversity, equity and inclusion and working to engage and inspire all levels of agency staff by raising awareness and illustrating the importance of those principals; Support the Executive director in developing gender equity and inclusion programs across DSS/HRS/DSS; Work closely with senior leaders to advance an Agency-wide culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion by providing strategic planning and support for the recruitment, retention, and engagement of diverse staff.
• Provide strategic direction for training initiatives on cultural competency, diversity, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values and maintaining compliance with applicable laws in collaboration with Agency’s stakeholders. Administer diversity and inclusion policy and program development and consulting on issues of gender equity. Work with Human Resources Solutions to ensure appropriate integration of goals throughout Agency. Ensure that any related risks to these goals are identified and addressed.
• Serve as a liaison with various city agencies, community-based organizations, labor unions and advocates to solicit input and to advance a gender equity agenda for DSS/HRA/DHS clients and staff.
• Develop gender equity strategic plans for DSS/HRA/DHS utilizing gender equity assessment /best practices in organizational change management /gender equity theory and practice and establishing goals and action plans accordingly. Establish and maintain survey and data collection processes, and an internal audit and reporting systems to allow for effective measurement of program outcomes. Assess and monitor program effectiveness and keeping leadership informed progress and issues through periodic reports. Ensure that ongoing, comprehensive planning and assessment occurs, that includes the review of goals and outcomes.
