Full-Time Director, Clinical Capacity, Access & Flow
Job Description
The Director, Clinical Capacity, Access and Flow provides leadership and oversight with respect to organization-wide capacity management, access, and flow. The Director is responsible for overseeing efforts to optimize patient flow and throughput for the clinical enterprise. This includes all vision, strategy and execution aimed at reducing length of stay, optimizing inpatient and day hospital capacity, streamlining patient transfers, strengthening, and expanding community partnerships and improving utilization of patient care and logistical services. This leader combines a deep understanding of hospital operations, system integration, developing and executing tactics to improve, data literacy and has a passion for paediatric service delivery and patient care.
Here’s What You’ll Get To Do
- Partner with key stakeholders to establish strategy for hospital wide patient flow, revising the strategy as needed to match capacity demands.
- Collaborate to lead the development of the tools and processes needed to forecast, plan, and manage daily patient care activities related to patient access and flow.
- Lead surge capacity planning and develops short and long-term strategies to plan services that match capacity and demand and improve flow at a systems level.
- Leverage system knowledge, objective transparent data, and relationships to sustain and expand innovative partnerships, programs and/or initiatives to increase capacity and ensure care is delivered in community settings appropriate to the level of care required.
- Integrate knowledge of data analysis to understand utilization trends, operational benchmarks, staffing models and performance management related to access and flow.
- Partner with operational leaders to optimize the health professional workforce and mentor new and operational leaders.
- Manage and develop a team of afterhours administrators to ensure patient care and services are delivered in accordance with the hospitals vision and strategic direction.
Here’s What You’ll Need
- Master’s degree in a Health Field, business or related.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in leadership and management within a healthcare environment (preferably an academic hospital setting) including managing people and organization-wide initiatives, with demonstrated abilities in: critical thinking, process improvement, negotiation, creativity, flexibility, problem solving and strong analytic skills.
- Understands the importance of and demonstrates commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Dynamic, creative, collaborative, inclusive, forward thinking, invitational leadership style
- Knowledge of current trends in pediatric clinical practice and patient safety that promote a strong professional practice environment.
- Strong attention to detail and efficient time-management skills with the ability to establish clear priorities responsibilities and lead others establish priorities to address key strategic and emerging needs.
- Highly self-directed, work independently while collaborating well within a variety of internal teams and system partners.
Employment Type
Full-time, Permanent. 35 hours per week.
