STAFF VACANCY 

Brescia University College campus is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Haundenosaunee, Lūnaapéewak and Chonnonton Nations. This territory falls under the London Township Treaty and Sombra Treaty 1796, and the Dish with One Spoon Wampum. Brescia University College accepts responsibility as a public institution to contribute toward revealing and correcting miseducation as well as renewing respectful relationships with Indigenous Communities through teaching, research, and community service.

Brescia is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill a position as: 

DIRECTOR, CENTRE FOR LEADERSHIP

($95,347 – $104,758) 

This inaugural position creates an opportunity for an intrapreneur to develop and shape our new Centre for Leadership at Brescia. Reporting to the Provost, the Director, Centre for Leadership co-leads all aspects of the Centre with the Distinguished Chair, Centre for Leadership. In collaboration with the Distinguished Chair and the Advisory Committee for the Centre, the Director will serve as a trusted advisor and visionary leader responsible for advocating and promoting the development of initiatives related to leadership and gender, intersectionality, EDI-D, and social justice across and beyond Brescia. The varied responsibilities in the role of the Director requires complex skills, including leadership, operational management, program development, communications, and relationship building while developing everything from the ground up. In addition, the Director will design and manage initiatives through a diverse lens to support Brescia’s commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments, developing future women leaders prepared with a global perspective that searches and responds to needs in their spheres of influence, and cultivating partnerships to enhance leader and leadership development programming for Brescia students and the broader Brescia community. The initial appointment for the role of Director will be a two-year term with the potential for renewal.

The Centre for Leadership has three strategic foci: 1) leader and leadership programs that inform, inspire, and ignite growth in individuals (internally and externally) and change in organizations, 2) research in partnership with our communities that delivers a deeper understanding of leader character, effective leadership within organizations and boards, and equity, diversity, inclusion and decolonization in leadership, and 3) advocacy for systemic change towards a more equitable future for diverse women in leadership. The Centre is integral to Brescia University College’s mission to produce transformative knowledge and leaders who work to create diverse and inclusive leadership. The Centre plays a pivotal role in the development of high-impact academic, experiential programming (internships, International Leadership Exchanges) and professional development (micro credentials) opportunities for students and external participants, and professional leader development programs for organizations.

The successful candidate will have a background that will bring in-depth knowledge and experience to the position to create a knowledge mobilization strategy that will disseminate knowledge focused on leader character, diversity in leadership, and advocacy for systemic change to a wide array of audiences through a variety of written and media pathways and social platforms. In addition, the Director will bring experience through qualifications, including lived experiences, to the role to co-lead the establishment of the Learning Network for EDI-D in Organizational Leadership to advance learning about EDI-D in leadership in a pan-sector network and generate effective organizational practices in the implementation of gender and intersectional equity in leadership.

Applicants will hold a Master’s Degree in Leadership; Master of Arts in Leadership; Master of Business Administration or equivalent. The preferred candidate will have 7-10 years experience in advocacy at multiple levels such as organizational and local, provincial and federal government levels. The successful candidate will be skilled at developing and implementing social media, and project management from inception to execution, as well as having events management skills or experience. Most importantly, candidates should have a deep appreciation of the Centre’s mission of advancing women’s ways of leading in society and a demonstrated understanding and ability to develop distinct knowledge systems in leadership through a diverse lens.
