Full-Time Digital Marketing Strategist

ICOCAREERS – Posted by InteroDigital Columbia, Missouri, United States

Job Description

Thinking About Joining the Team at Influence & Co.?

Influence & Co. makes content marketing simple by providing a collaborative solution to help companies strategize, create, publish, and maximize content that drives measurable results.

We recognize that our industry and organization have a troubling lack of diversity. We want you to know that Influence & Co. is committed to increasing the diversity of our team and is working to implement changes in our organization designed to recruit, develop, and retain the most talented people from a diverse candidate pool. One change we’re implementing is using a hiring committee, rather than a full-time recruiter, to recruit and interview potential candidates. Another change is keeping our job post up for a minimum of 30 days before we begin the application review process, which means the earliest you’ll hear back from us is the week of December 20th.

We know this is the right direction for our organization and believe it will ultimately result in a better candidate experience. However, we acknowledge that it might feel clunky to you as we work to implement this new process, and we want to thank you in advance for your patience.

What About COVID-19?

We are currently working remotely to ensure the safety and well-being of our team. We are preparing to return to our Columbia office location soon pending any new developments with COVID-19 and state and local health orders. While we’re remote, our recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training process is fully virtual. If you have any reservations about starting a new job in a remote capacity or would like to request an accommodation to ensure a successful candidate experience throughout a fully virtual process, please contact HR Director Courtney Mudd at 573-999-0794 x720 or

About the Role

We are searching for a digital marketing strategist to join our digital marketing team and play an integral part in informing content strategies for clients and measuring the performance of those efforts.

Starting salary: $36,500 – $45,000

Employer-sponsored healthcare: $5,500 value

Variable compensation opportunities after completion of your first 60 days

Requirements

As a digital marketing strategist, you will identify search trends and make recommendations on the topics around which our clients should create content. You will be responsible for measuring and presenting the performance of a clients website and content using Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Moz, Excel/Google Sheets, Screaming Frog, HubSpot, and GTMetrix.

About You

You excel at analyzing data and using it to make recommendations and decisions. You like searching for information that will help deliver results for clients. You enjoy digging into analytics and dissecting the performance of a website and its content. You want to find out why things happened and use that information to inform strategy.

You communicate effectively about data. You can educate people about what you are seeing from the data you’ve analyzed. You can explain what happened, why it happened, and what we can learn from it. You can take complex information and make it easy to understand.

You excel at presenting information to clients. You are comfortable and confident speaking with clients and presenting your findings to them. You come prepared with context that will help them understand why something happened or why you are recommending certain tactics. If a client asks a question for which you don’t have an answer on the spot, you don’t attempt to provide an answer you don’t have. Instead, you’re not afraid to ask if you can follow up with an answer afterward.

You have a foundational knowledge of content marketing, search-engine optimization (SEO), and analytics. You understand SEO and how it plays into a full content marketing strategy. You are able to use analytics tools to see how things are performing and the impact of our efforts. You are able to educate people on each of these.

You have a knowledge of technical audits. You understand that the technical side of a website matters and can impact how a website performs. You are able to identify patterns and trends and make recommendations on how a website can be optimized.

You can educate yourself quickly about a new industry. You review a client’s website before starting any work and gain context about the client’s industry. You ask questions that will help you provide the most valuable information to teams and clients.

You are flexible and manage your time well. You understand that things are going to change. You embrace this and reprioritize your time to be as effective as possible. You can effectively balance your schedule to complete tasks, prepare for client conversations, and deliver your findings to clients.

You perform at a high level working both with teams and independently. You are able to execute your responsibilities both alone and in collaboration with other team members. You enjoy having a balance of client meetings, team meetings, and independent work conducting audits and creating reports.

So what does the digital marketing strategist role look like in real time? Let’s break down the first year.

Please note: This is a rough timeline, as we know not everyone operates at the same pace. As long as we’re in communication, we will do our best to support your unique pace.

At the 30-day mark, we expect you to understand Influence & Co.’s content creation process and service lines as well as content marketing as an industry. You will also learn how to use the digital team’s tools. Don’t worry — you will receive plenty of training on all of these! You’ll also spend time getting to know your clients and teammates. You will learn how the digital team works and how to execute on each service line. You will start executing on the digital marketing team’s service lines with someone reviewing your work and providing feedback.

At the 60-day mark, you will feel comfortable using various SEO and analytics tools as well as other tech solutions involved in your job — Google Analytics, Hubspot, Slack, and Google Drive, to name a few. You will feel more comfortable executing the team’s audits and reports and communicating the information and data you find.

Once you’ve reached 90 days, we expect digital marketing strategists to be executing on the team’s service lines with support. We never expect questions to stop, especially not right after your new hire training concludes! We try to prepare you to tackle things on your own and as a team, but we don’t expect you to know everything in 90 days. You will develop ownership for the client accounts for which you are responsible.

At six months, you are cruising right along! You know your clients well and are more comfortable with all aspects of your role. You have learned to balance your time between executing reports and audits and joining client calls to present your findings. You’re providing more and more input into your clients’ overall strategies. Your SEO and analytics knowledge is growing, and you are more comfortable speaking about these topics with teammates and clients.

It’s now been one year. You’re getting a “Happy Workiversary!” shout-out and maybe a little gift to mark this milestone. You have a deep understanding of your role as a digital marketing strategist but are also finding new ways to be a productive teammate. You are an indispensable part of the team and are helping inform and drive client strategy. You have found your place here at Influence & Co. and are beginning to look for ways to keep the team moving forward and providing value to teams and clients.
