PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE:

The Digital Banking Product Manager will serve as the head of Online/Mobile product and is responsible for product strategy, planning, development and implementation of new products and product enhancements for online and mobile banking as well as of other digital platforms. This includes managing new offerings and enhancements throughout the product lifecycle; collaborating with business lines and other Technology teams in defining the product vision, gathering and prioritizing requirements, developing roadmaps and working closely with technology partners, and key business stakeholders to deliver and maintain profitable solutions that meet the needs of our clients. It also includes supporting Business Lines and Marketing in promoting the products and ensuring revenue, business value, and client loyalty goals are met. This position requires a high level of strategic thinking, but also requires the ability to shift into the details in order to make informed decisions when required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborating with business lines and Technology teams, develop best-in-class, digital banking products that promote and create customer loyalty through highly innovative design and feature sets; primary responsibility is shipping new products and features for online and mobile banking channels and digital origination systems
    • Leads agile scrum teams, plays role of scrum master and product owner, manages backlog and release planning
    • Understand customer needs in digital channels
    • Define product roadmap strategy, incorporating market direction and customer preference
    • Work with a cross functional team to drive the implementation of new products, features, and designs
    • Define product direction, prioritize and manage features that will deliver best-in-class experiences for Eastern Bank consumers
    • Work with the Design / User Experience team to translate requirements into concepts and elegant user experience design
  • Monitor and track product usage and performance
    • Develop closed loop analytics system to gather customer feedback in order to shape and build future products
    • Track product and feature use and work with product team to analyze and understand implications for product enhancement.
  • Leads and develops digital product management team and brings them together to deliver and maintain superior user tested digital experiences
  • Support the creation of other critical digital platforms by working with technology and business partners, architects and other groups to identify technical and functional needs.

PROBLEM SOLVING & DECISION MAKING:

Develops, owns & executes on enterprise digital strategies and related product vision.  This individual will be responsible for overall quality and delivery of new products, features and designs for online and mobile banking products.  Must be able to think strategically and drive results tactically.  A key skill will be to merge the competing priorities and constraints across internal stakeholder teams into a thoughtful and detailed roadmap.  Translates digital strategy, business needs and wants into detailed requirements and works with technology partners and/or vendors to shepherd the delivery of optimized user-centered intuitive digital offerings to market.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of experience in the technology, banking, or product fields. Minimum of 5 years of product development, management, or product design experience in the digital world
  • 1-3 years’ experience running agile teams
  • Proven ability to build, motivate and manage teams
  • Proven experience delivering large scale, complex web applications
  • Demonstrable expertise in extracting insights from qualitative & quantitative research
  • Familiarity with html and web technologies, in a banking context is a strong plus
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with creating and managing product roadmaps and backlogs for software platforms
  • Strong ability to lead customer journey mapping sessions, creating artifacts, and defining jobs to done which result in streamlined human centered designs which solve real business problems
  • Possess quantitative and analytical skills to demonstrate benefit realization of project and marketing initiatives for digital banking platforms
  • Expertise in understanding and analyzing consumer market research results, such as segmentation analysis and drivers of satisfaction related to the online and mobile financial experience

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Startup experience and/or large company digital product experience
  • Experience in a product group focusing on web and mobile applications.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Metrics driven with a deep understanding of customer needs and the market landscape
  • Design thinking acumen
  • Certified scrum product owner (this is optional)
  • Ability to articulate (both written and verbal) product concepts and product requirements
  • Creative expert in building and testing digital user experiences
  • Expert ability to extract insights from qualitative & quantitative research
  • Detail oriented, organized and driven to get things done
  • Excellent communicator (verbal, written and presentation.)
  • Highly collaborative and capable of building strong relationships. Able to work across functions, sell business ideas and drive consensus.
  • The technical aptitude to collaborate with technology development teams.
  • Experience with agile development practices.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced environments
