YOUR OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Digital Advertising Specialist to run our robust digital ad program and lead it into the future.
You are ideal for this position if you are passionate about producing, running, and optimizing digital ads. You enjoy the challenge of combining written and visual materials to produce persuasive content that resonates with diverse audiences. You draw on your own depth of experience, knowledge of industry best practices, and a healthy dose of creativity and lateral thinking to test assumptions and find breakthroughs. This is a full-time, remote position based in the US. This position requires occasional domestic travel (with the possibility of international travel). This is equivalent to approximately 2-3 trips per year. We are only able to consider applicants who reside in the United States and possess United States work authorization. This position reports to the Director of Digital Communications Strategy.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage The Humane League’s Facebook ads programs to meet a range of strategic objectives
- Supporter Engagement: drive supporters to action for animals through ads that draw new and existing supporters into our digital campaigns, recruit activists, promote events, etc.
- Corporate Engagement: working closely with our Corporate Engagement team, elevate the visibility of our corporate campaigns and outreach initiatives
- Fundraising: working closely with our Development team, recruit new donors and re-engage existing donors in fundraising campaigns
- Veg Outreach: Through our VegFund grant, produce ads that encourage viewers to visit our global landing pages, watch educational videos, and download veg resources. Liaise with external stakeholders, learn about the different cultures for each of our ad languages, and keep up with current events and trends to develop effective ads
- Oversee and guide digital ad strategy
- Work with the Director of Digital Communications Strategy as well as stakeholders across the organization within a dynamic, changing landscape, to proactively identify how digital ads can best serve the organization’s strategic communication needs, in complement with other (non-paid) communication channels
- Manage a yearly acquisition and cultivation ad budget, aligning list-building objectives with other strategic ad objectives, and using deep analyses to optimize audience targeting for retention and lifetime value
- Coordinate with departments across the organization to take full advantage of our Google Grant, aligning on budget allocation and objectives, while ensuring that our ads funded through this program continually meet Google Grant requirements
- Produce high-impact digital ads that attract attention and drive conversions. Select powerful visuals to combine with compelling ad copy, and work with our Creative Team to produce videos and other assets as needed
- Optimize ad sets for impact
- Working across ad sets with diverse, strategic goals, use a mix of creative thinking, experimentation, and iterative optimization tactics to maximize the efficacy of all our ad sets, and share insights
- Track daily performance and spending of ads (M-F), to ensure that the greatest portion of the budget is always being used for the most effective ads
- Analyze and report on ad performance
- Set KPI goals and ensure that tracking is in place to evaluate the performance of each ad campaign
- Produce monthly and quarterly reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Draw insights from complex datasets and make recommendations to leadership on high-level digital ad strategy
- Administrative/Other Duties
- Attend regular check-ins and contribute to group video calls with team members across the organization
- Facilitate a cross-departmental monthly ads meeting
- Complete monthly ad expense reports
- In collaboration with the Development team, write our VegFund grant proposal on an annual basis
- Other duties as directed
REQUIRED SKILLS
- At least 2 years experience in the field of digital ad creation and management
- Expertise in running and optimizing digital ads on Facebook and Instagram
- Impeccable time-management skills, and the ability to simultaneously manage numerous ad sets, optimized for a range of goals, across multiple platforms
- Big-picture thinker and details-oriented: an ability to manage monthly budgets in the thousands of dollars while thinking of individual ad performance in terms of cents—and—using high-level goals and priorities to inform day-to-day decision-making
- Creative and analytical: can produce attention-grabbing and persuasive ad creative, while also having the ability to understand and unpack complex performance issues
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
- Comfortable working with content that depicts cruel practices, in service of exposing and ending animal abuse
- Growth mindset: a thirst for learning new things, solving problems, growing from feedback, and staying on top of new and emerging technologies and tactics related to social advertising
DESIRED SKILLS
- Experience running ads on other platforms such as Twitter, Google, and LinkedIn
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Google Optimize (or another Optimization platform), and pixel tracking technologies; experience in setting up conversion tracking for web pages through Google Analytics a bonus
- Proficient in Google Sheets or Excel, and the ability to create clear, well-structured spreadsheet reports
- Experience in the field of animal protection and/or veg advocacy, and and an understanding of the issues around factory farming
Starting salary $47,350 or salary to commensurate with experience.
