As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will report to one of our development team managers. You will focus on automating and improving development and deployment practices, monitoring, and testing for our client projects. You will work closely with Solutions Architects, and development teams to build, maintain, and support continuous integration and continuous deployment processes. You will get to architect infrastructure solutions for maximum scalability and reliability. You will set up and maintain automated monitoring systems to ensure uptime and peak performance of applications. In this role, you will have the ability to build on existing practices, and create new systems and processes that enhance DevOps at Detroit Labs. You’ll also have the ability to think creatively about business requirements and recommend solutions you think would be the best fit for projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry software development experience
  • 3+ years experience working with DevOps tools and practices
  • Experience administering scalable infrastructure in a public cloud environment. (AWS or GCP or Azure required)
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration, network administration, and security, along with knowledge of associated tools and utilities
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python or Golang
  • Experience with modern source control tools (e.g., git) and CI/CD build/deployment tools (e.g., Github Actions, GitLab, AWS CodePipeline)
  • Experience with container technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools, such as Terraform or Pulumi -Experience automating and improving development, testing, and deployment
  • Working knowledge of tools like Spark, Akka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ, Cassandra, Redis, Bitbucket and Maven
  • Experience with monitoring tools and incident alert processing
  • Willingness to respond and troubleshoot alerts on an occasional on-call basis
  • Experience working with Agile software development processes

Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and support all cloud-based infrastructure that runs frontend and backend systems for client projects
  • Employ DevOps automation and “Infrastructure as Code” practices
  • Work with software engineers to build, maintain, and support continuous integration and continuous deployment processes
  • Set up and maintain automated monitoring and alerts for all systems, to ensure maximum uptime and peak performance
  • Architect infrastructure solutions for maximum scalability and reliability, employing techniques and technologies such as “scale out”, redundancy, automated failover, and microservices
  • Work closely with software engineers to support their infrastructure needs, and provision and maintain all needed development, testing, and production environments
  • Help foster a culture of security, and enforce comprehensive security best practices throughout client projects
  • Continuously learn and contribute to the organization concerning new practices, processes, platforms, and technologies
