Job Description
Join a bold, world-leading and highly accomplished development and alumni engagement team — and help UBC shape a better world.
At UBC, we believe that attracting and sustaining a diverse workforce is key to the successful pursuit of excellence in research, innovation, and learning for all faculty, staff and students. Our commitment to employment equity helps achieve inclusion and fairness, brings rich diversity to UBC as a workplace, and creates the necessary conditions for a rewarding career.
Are you interested in raising funds to tackle some of our most pressing health challenges, such as advancing Alzheimer’s disease research, training more Indigenous health professionals, driving solutions to the opioid crisis or learning more about how wildfires impact lung health?
Do you want to develop your fundraising career on a collaborative, high-performing team with smart, passionate, generous colleagues who will support you to grow, learn and innovate?
The UBC Faculty of Medicine is seeking a Development Officer to join our health care philanthropy team, where ambition and collaboration lead to more than $75M raised every year.
UBC Faculty of Medicine is ranked 22nd globally for Life Sciences and Medicine, and is the premier educator of health and life sciences professionals in BC, producing the next generation of clinicians and scientists focused on the health and wellbeing of citizens across BC, Canada, and around the globe.
As a Development Officer with UBC Faculty of Medicine you will be responsible for:
- Developing relationships with key faculty to implement donor and prospect strategies to support leading-edge health science research and initiatives.
- Building and sustaining long-term donor relationships while aligning donor passion with the goals of the Faculty of Medicine.
- Managing the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors by developing relationships or facilitating relationships with those who have the capacity to make major gifts ($50k+).
- Writing and editing donor communications, including proposals and stewardship reports – often in collaboration with other team members.
The successful candidate will thrive on working autonomously, proactively moving relationships forward and making the ask. They are curious, deep listeners, ask great questions, love to learn, rise to challenges and are able to navigate ambiguity.
If you are driven and tenacious, strategic and authentic, a skilled writer and a generous team player, we want to help you advance your career on our team of like-minded fundraisers.
