Full-Time Development Officer
Job Description
Location: Renton, WA & Hybrid
Salary: $70,000-75,000 annual salary
Position Summary: The Development Officer creates and implements the strategy to engage current and prospective individual, corporate and foundation donors in funding Crisis Connections.
This role will manage a portfolio of current and prospective donors – cultivating, soliciting, stewarding donors toward meeting fundraising goals. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining donor strategies, matching organizational funding needs to donor interests, accurately and timely maintenance of donor records, and plan/execute donor engagement events.
This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Advancement and works as part of the Crisis Connections Development team to raise and grow private funds.
Essential Job Functions:
Individual Gifts & Sponsorship:
· Support Sr. Director in developing and implementing a comprehensive, strategic, high performing mid/major donor and corporate sponsorship program focused on increasing philanthropic support from individuals and corporation for gifts of $500 and above.
· Utilizing a donor-centric and community-centric approach, responsible for donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
· Conduct, analyze and utilize prospect research; work with Sr. Director to mine database to identify potential mid/major donors.
· Build authentic relationships and develop next steps for donors and sponsors, including movement within the portfolio (moves management approach).
· Ensure all donors receive excellent stewardship and donor recognition by creating and initiating regular communication strategies.
· Develop, track, and meet deadlines for donor proposals and reports.
· Optimize the use of the donor database system (Raiser’s Edge) by ensuring data is accurate and tracked in a way to enable moves management, major donor renewal timing, accurate recognition and acknowledgement, and stewardship.
· Research and communicate emerging trends and best practices in donor engagement and stewardship.
· Ensure exceptional customer service and timely response to inquiries by donors in portfolio or as directed by leadership.
Events:
· Work with Sr. Director on advancing donor involvement, cultivation and stewardship coordinating invitations and donor attendance, table captain recruitment, securing donations and sponsorship for events, providing post event evaluation and implement post-event stewardship plans for donors and prospects.
· Work with committees and staff on invitation lists and targeted follow up.
· Attends community events as a Crisis Connections representative and present as needed.
General Development:
· Maintain necessary database records, files, reports, and resource materials pertinent to donor relations activities (Raiser’s Edge).
· Work in partnership with Sr. Director, CEO, staff, and key stakeholders to contribute to the organization’s vision, participate in organization-wide programs, and help create a sustainable organizational culture.
Qualifications & Experience:
· 4 years of experience in broad-based fund development, with a strong track record of securing major gifts, sponsorships, and event planning.
· Proven track record achieving fund raising goals.
· Proficiency with MS Office and donor databases; experience in Raiser’s Edge a plus.
· Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in writing, by phone, or in person.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while staying organized.
· Comfort pivoting between high-level, strategic work and smaller tasks.
· Poised, professional manner with the ability to work well with diverse individuals and personalities and the ability to handle and protect sensitive, confidential material.
· Ability to work independently, problem solve, take initiative, set priorities, handle multiple projects, and exercise good judgment in a fast paced, dynamic, deadline driven environment.
· Familiarity with modern communication tools, social media and email strategies, and other collaborative technologies.
· Ability to work flexible hours as necessary, including occasional evenings and weekends for events and donor meetings.
