DEVELOPMENT MANAGER, TRANSFORMATIONAL GIVING

About Point Foundation Founded in 2001, Point Foundation is the nation’s oldest and largest scholarship fund for LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) students of merit pursuing their dreams and goals through higher education. Well beyond the tuition and other financial assistance that opens doors otherwise closed to these students, Point Foundation empowers its LGBTQ+ scholars to achieve their full academic and leadership potential – despite the obstacles often put before them – to make a significant impact on society.

Position Overview
The Development Manager, Transformational Giving will join the ambitious and energetic Individual Giving team at Point Foundation, with key responsibilities that include holding and growing a portfolio of major donors, assisting with strategy and execution of activities to both steward existing donors and attract new supporters, as well as explore new opportunities for transformational gifts to ensure the sustainability and success of Point’s scholarships and programs for LGBTQ+ scholars across the country.

In support of Point Foundation’s efforts to meet revenue goals for its national individual giving program, the Development Manager, Transformational Giving will create and execute strategy and outreach plans for $10,000+ donors and prospects. The ideal candidate has impeccable attention to detail, takes initiative, and enjoys problem solving.

Reports To: Senior Director of Development
Works closely with: Development Manager, Individual Giving
Location: Los Angeles or New York*
Supervise and Manage: N/A
Status: Full-Time Administrative Exempt

*Only applicants who reside in Southern California or in New York will be considered. Point Foundation staff currently work 100% remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites
-In partnership with the Senior Director of Development, create and execute a strategy and outreach plan for $10,000+ donors
-Manage a highly valuable donor portfolio in this giving bracket (and others, if necessary)
-Design customized actions and moves management strategy for $10,000+ donors
-Identify and create a plan for transformational giving opportunities from individual donors
-Manage the creation of materials for transformational giving program and named scholarship program
-Maintain data for tracking individual giving activities with the $10,000+ bracket
-Oversee moves management for Point Foundation’s named scholarship program
-Manage Point Foundation’s planned giving program (Legacy Circle), including creation of program materials, campaigns, and events as necessary
-Work with development staff to help strategize on overall development activities
-Assist with general Development Department needs as identified by the Chief Development Officer and Senior Director of Development

Requirements and Qualifications
-Minimum of 2 years of demonstrable work experience related to development in the non-profit sector
-Above average organizational skills and ability to support and drive others to meet required deadlines
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator
-Strong ability at relationship building and an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team
-Ability to point to tangible examples of reporting and program measurement and evaluation
-Flexibility and ability to multi-task; work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions, demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people
-Ability to interact with diplomacy and tact amid influential donors and diverse groups
-Capable to exercise tact and diplomacy in organizational settings
-Remain focused in the face of pressure, deliver against timelines and unintimidated by tasks/time limitations
-Genuine appreciation for Point Foundation’s mission and ability to promote and communicate the philosophy, mission, and values to external and internal constituents
-Flexibility of work schedule, as many events and committee meetings take place in the evening, on weekends, and/or in different time zones
-Flexibility to travel within the United States

Compensation and Benefits
Staring salary for this position $65,000. Employee benefits include full employee sponsored medical insurance (health, vision, dental, life), flexible spending account, retirement plan with vested 3% matching, and generous vacation, sick, and holiday schedules.
