Desktop Support Specialist
Office Location: Chicago West (Hoffman Estates)
Employment Type: Full-time regular
Your Role at Walker
In this role, you will be the primary person for maintaining Walker’s workstation imaging process; software development process and helping maintain Walker’s software inventory. While the primary focus of this position is the support of desktop systems and software deployments, it also has a second responsibility to provide end user technical support to users in helping to resolve a wide range of technical issues.

In Addition, You Will
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage the company’s workstation imaging process. (Currently Win10 moving to Win11)
  • Create and maintain the deployment process for new software and updates.
    • Using Kace SDA to maintain images.
  • Primary lead on all workstation projects.
  • Perform root cause analysis of problematic software installations.
    • This is not limited to VBS, BAT, PowerShell or Perl scripting.
  • Help maintain software inventory through internal compliance reports and audits when requested from the DBTG.
  • Create, maintain, update, and enforce all Walker Information Technology SOP’s.
  • Maintain Asset inventory of all Walker Technologies.
  • Responsible for maintaining monthly tasks, checklists and project assignments given by DBTG.
  • Document daily work and keep the DBTG updated as to the status of assigned projects and work completed.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Provide end user technical support in resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed logs of all communications through the company Service Desk ticketing system.
  • Provide constant follow-up with users with ongoing issues until a resolution has been found.
  • Develop correction action plans to address and/or correct hardware and software problems as they relate to the end users.
  • Develop plan to roll out tech refresh of 25% equipment on a yearly basis.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or combination of education and experience that would be equivalent to the job role.
Other Requirements:
  • 3+ years’ experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of desktop imaging and software deployment processes.
    • Knowledge of Quest KACE a plus.
  • ​Strong working and proven knowledge of the following software and services:
    • Windows 10 / Windows 11
    • Microsoft Office (O365) Suite of products
    • Local Area Network (LAN) architecture and TCP/IP
  • A proven technical aptitude to provide best-in-class comprehensive technical support.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills including the ability to successfully execute on multiple projects.
  • Excellent follow up and documentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technology users.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, activities, and tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel (up to 15%)
Accountability:
  • End User satisfaction.
  • Compliance with the Walker’s SOPs.
  • Timely and appropriate assistance to DBTG and offices.
