Full-Time Desktop Infrastructure Engineer

Job Description

Join Sparklight, a Cable One, Inc. (NYSE: CABO) brand, as our Desktop Infrastructure Engineer. In this role you will: analyze, design, architect, and deploy standardized infrastructure within Cable One. You will also analyze and monitor the effectiveness of Cable One’s server, storage, and application client computing infrastructure and provide tactical changes to the operating environment to minimize cost, increase effectiveness, and reduce downtime. You will also be an escalation point for the Infrastructure Operations Desktop Support team and will work collaboratively withPlease  the Operations and other Engineering resources on the teams.

What this position does to contribute to the Company’s success:

  • Analyzing, designing, and implementing new software and/or hardware (physical or virtual) to support business initiatives.
  • Analyzing business and technical project requests to estimate time and cost required for proper planning and implementation of technology infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting, resolving, and analyzing root cause for technical escalation from internal teams and departments.
  • Tracking and monitoring Service Level Agreements with external vendors.
  • Contributing to workstation roadmap planning for anticipated changes in technology and requirements.
  • Creating and improving IT processes to secure data to ensure protection of Cable One’s information assets.
  • Clearly documenting engineering solutions, standard operating procedures, and run books for turn over to other teams. Presenting ideas and designs for technology initiatives that implement new and enhanced capabilities for Cable One’s systems.
  • Evaluating and recommending new technologies and applications that enable Cable One’s strategic roadmap for IT systems.
  • Evaluating and documenting standard operating procedures for third-party product upgrades and implementation and operation.
  • This position has the expectation and responsibility to take on other duties needed to help drive our Purpose, fulfill our Brand Principles, and abide by our Organization’s Values.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree (A. A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and a minimum of three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hardware and/or software experience preferred.
  • Experience implementing security best practices and data protection for large enterprise environments preferred.
  • Prior knowledge and experience using scripting languages, such as PowerShell, VB, Shell Scripting, Perl, JavaScript, etc. preferred.
  • Knowledge of networking, configuring Network Interface Controllers (NICs), troubleshooting, diagramming, and layer 3 protocols preferred
  • Industry certification in Microsoft Windows is preferred (such as: MCSA, MS 100-101, SCCM, Azure, AZ-900, AZ-104).
  • Experience in Windows Virtual Desktop on Microsoft Azure is a plus.
  • Strong experience in SCCM and related technologies.
  • Strong Experience with:
    • GPOs
    • Active Directory
    • Office 365
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Sound analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and a team player.
