Job description
As a member of our Warehouse Operations team, you will manage staff and conduct various warehouse activities and operations including receipt, storage, maintenance
and the issue of petroleum, oils and lubricants ensuring a safe and secure environment.
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, hard-working and organised individual who can work in a pressurised, customer-focused environment to tight timescales while remaining positive and focused on delivery. Above all, you will be passionate about safety and process, closely following the guidance and procedures that means all equipment is handled in a safe, effective and consistent fashion.
It is important that you have a forward-looking and solution-orientated mindset that is open to a continuous improvement approach and are comfortable with challenging processes and procedures, and influencing others as to the merits of proposed improvements.
Responsibilities
As an individual, you will have a flexible attitude and be conscientious in your work with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
You will be required to meet production targets to expected safety, time, cost and quality standards as well as review forecasting in comparison to known demand and requirement given in either the tasking statement or contract details.
As you will be interacting with a wide range of internal and external customers and stakeholders, both military and civilian, and including contractors, your strong communication, influencing and leadership skills combined with a calm, collected and collaborative, yet robust, manner are essential to success in this post.
Key duties include:
* Meet production targets to expected safety, time, cost and quality standards.
* Review forecasting in comparison to known demand and requirement given in either the tasking statement or contract details.
* Address scheduling issues and manage delivery of output to customers.
* Manage staff, directing work, monitoring performance, managing disciplinary matters as well as accounting for absence and leave.
* Manage or supervise junior colleagues in carrying out tasks involved in the receipt, storage, maintenance and issue of petroleum, oils and lubricants.
* Maintain stock, investigating and reporting any discrepancies and escalating as necessary.
* Drive and operate vehicles or mechanical handling equipment in a safe and secure manner ensuring adherence to relevant health and safety rules and regulations including use and care of equipment.
* Manage and undertake various manual handling tasks.
Ensuring your own work areas and that of others are kept safe and tidy in accordance with all relevant health and safety policies are paramount in this post.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience.
• Experience of managing and meeting deadlines.
• Experience of management of personnel and resolution of dispute.
• Experience of operating manual handling equipment.
It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• Ability to make decisions concerning production and scheduling.
• Ability to identify risks and issues.
• Experience of manual handling operations.
• Full driving license.

About your team
The Integrated Logistics (iLog) Function is the integrating Function for Support within DE&S, responsible for the development, management and delivery of in-service support for our front-line command customers. The iLog Function consists of around 2,900 personnel, both civil servants and military, and with a wide range of disciplines ranging from operations management and supply chain management, technical through-life support and logistics delivery, to modelling and analysis and internal continuous improvement consultancy services.
