DE&S is the force behind the UK Armed Forces, and is a highly specialised part of the Ministry of Defence. From the procurement of clothes to carriers, food to fighter jets, we ensure our UK military customers – the Royal Navy, the British Army and the Royal Air Force – have the equipment and support they need to carry out their duties effectively.

Based on-site at RAF Lossiemouth, Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager working within our Air Domain. This role will see you directly supporting the introduction of the E-7 Wedgetail capability, working hand in hand with our industry partners including Boeing.

E-7 Wedgetail will be a responsive and globally deployable Airborne Warning and Control System capability that provides battle management and wide area air surveillance in support of UK, NATO and Coalition forces. The Programme will deliver three aircraft and supporting ground-based systems to the Royal Air Force with the first aircraft due to be delivered in 2023 having started modification this year. DE&S have been tasked with delivering the technical infrastructure for E-7 Wedgetail to operate alongside P-8A Poseidon at RAF Lossiemouth. This exciting opportunity will see you manage the infrastructure programme and co-ordinate the integration of the aircraft and supporting systems into RAF Lossiemouth. You will be the main focal point for the programme at RAF Lossiemouth, establishing effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders (both internal and external) whilst ensuring minimal operational impacts to the Royal Air Force’s front line operations.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Accountable for leading, managing high performing multi-disciplinary teams and setting project direction and delivering across all functions to deliver agreed outcomes within the associated complex project
• Support an open, honest no blame culture. Embedding and adhering to all governance and policy and enable the required compliance throughout your team.
• Agree with the Customer: the objective, requirements and the means of acceptance in line with the MoD’s Operating Model and Defence Lines of Development.
• Drive the timely establishment of contracts with Commercial Officers to enable the required contractual contribution from industry.
• Meeting budgets within all In-Year and longer-term accounting periods for the MoD’s equipment procurement programme and operating expenditure. Lead and ensure that the wider financial (and resource) profiles are driven from the activities in the project schedule and the work breakdown structure
