Corporate Services offers a challenging and stimulating variety of work in both delivery and support teams. The function utilises the expertise of eight specialisms that collectively enable the operational day-to-day running of the business to ensure that DE&S/SDA delivers its objectives and maintains compliance with the requirements of being part of a Department of State. We cover: Business Support; Comms, Media & Marketing; Infrastructure & Estate Management; Policy Profession; Sales & Disposals; Occupational Health, Safety & Environment; Quality Management; and Security.

We have progressive and dynamic opportunities for a Security Assurance Advisor to join our Security Teams at Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) and the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA).

One of these positions is part of the Physical Security Team in DE&S. You will be involved in advising commercial partners on a range of security matters from lock types to lighting, providing guidance in accordance with necessary policy. In this role you will look into security breaches, being responsible in the process for recording and reporting on breaches, as well as following up to ensure issues have been resolved and lessons have been learnt and understood to mitigate future occurrence.

We also have an opportunity in the SDA, focusing on providing security advice and physical security assurance. Working as part of Branch Security, you will be key in assisting with personnel security matters as well as supporting security with industry. By providing guidance and assurance to our key stakeholders including Rolls Royce, BAE Systems and Babcock Marine, you will interpret policy to resolve problems. This position includes occasional travel to locations such as to the naval dockyards at Devonport and Portsmouth.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities as Security Assurance Advisor include:

• Conducting strategic analysis at the appropriate level, extracting insights to provide an informed opinion on security risks and the adequacy of controls in place
• Advising to the appropriate organisational level on how to deliver proportional, practical security outcomes, within the parameters set by relevant regulation, policy and procedures
• Advising on any residual risk
• Monitoring the efficiency and effectiveness of the security processes at the appropriate organisational level and make recommendations for continual improvement
• Maintaining awareness of current and emerging policies and their impact on existing security practices

What you will be assessed against

To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:

• Experience of working within security management or a security role
• Ability to identify problems and find solutions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability influence stakeholders

It would benefit your application if you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

• A security management qualification or accreditation
