We are currently seeking entry level Commercial Assistants to join our new Structured Learning Programme. This programme will provide candidates with the opportunity to:
• Develop skills and experience of the commercial function
• Gain CIPS Level 4 qualification and the associated commercial experience
This is an excellent opportunity to start your career in the Civil Service. In addition, you will be required to commit to obtaining a commercial license. This is an assessment against the MOD Commercial competences, obtained by an internal licensing board.
Responsibilities
The roles will cover contract management and purchasing with responsibilities for the provision of general administrative support to senior team members dealing with all kinds of commercial projects and a wide range of different activities including:
• Supporting contract management/sourcing activities including attendance at contract review meetings arranging and administering tenders
• Responding to requests for information
• Arranging training and development for commercial staff
• Arranging meetings, facilities and travel
• Administration and Management of contract files and records
• Supporting audit and assurance of commercial policies and approvals
• Collating, presenting and maintenance of management information
• Processing of purchase orders on an internal Oracle based system
Please also note that some of the positions available will be open to Sole UK Nationals only and some successful applicants will need to be able to pass Developed Vetting clearance. We are currently recruiting vacancies across both DE&S and the SDA, successful candidates will be assigned to either depending on location, skill-sets and the business need.

To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Minimum of 5 GCSE grades 4 – 9 (A* to C) including English and Maths, or equivalent
• IT literate with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Flexible their attitude and approach to work, as tasks will cover a wide range of different themes.
• Able to prioritise competing demands and have excellent time management skills

About your team
The DE&S & SDA Commercial Function is made up of around 1000 people who provide independent, professional judgement on commercial, procurement and contract management matters to meet the Armed Force’s needs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance, whilst driving value for the customer. As a member of the Commercial team, you will play a key part in helping to equip and support the armed forces for everything from disaster relief and reconstruction to peacekeeping and humanitarian aid.
