Would you find it exciting to work with military colleagues and industry on some of the most important and challenging work the UK Government is undertaking? If so, this could be the ideal opportunity for you.
A rare opportunity has arisen to join a team of professional Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the field of Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) working within the Support Engineering Team, which is part of the Support Directorate.
Responsibilities
In this role you will be required to assist, Delivery Teams or Front Line Commands (FLCs) and Industry in the deployment and execution of all aspects of the R&M discipline working with them to ensure appropriate account is taken of R&M in equipment acquisition and support.
Additionally you will be required to lead on developing and effecting continuous improvement of the R&M and other related processes (with associated procedure and guidance) for the effective and efficient operation of the Defence Support (DS) and for integration into the overall framework for DS processes across the front-line, DE&S and industry spectrum.
There will also be opportunities to collaborate with allies, industry and academia in order to fulfil the UK’s obligations and undertakings for international or other collaborative endeavours, especially within the area of advancing International Standards for R&M and broader Supportability disciplines and functions.
Please note: The role will be predominately based at Bristol Abbeywood, but occasional EU and Worldwide travel may be required.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• A minimum of a Level 4 qualification (HNC, CertHE, etc.) in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Evidence of managing and influencing a variety of stakeholders (such as senior leaders, decision makers or communities) to:
– Accept advice on and implement solutions to Reliability and Maintainability activities on a system; equipment; project or portfolio
– Develop, implement and maintain policy and processes to enable effective safety, quality or function management outputs.
• Evidence of stakeholder management and communication skills, able to interface with industry and help DE&S and industry understand technical risks.
It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• Registration with a relevant Professional Engineering / Science Institute or equivalent body as an Engineering Technician or Incorporated Engineer or has demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
• Knowledge of modern management/engineering of business processes
• Able to prioritise, multitask and take command of situations with confidence
