At Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) we’re excited to be expanding our project management team in Yeovil.
In this new and progressive position you will further develop your experience in project management and co-ordination, as well as enhance your commercial understanding, financial awareness and risk management scheduling.
Joining the Merlin Team you will form part of the Helicopters Operating Centre based at the Leonardo Helicopter site in Yeovil. You will be involved with introducing new capability into the Royal Navy Fleet of Merlin Helicopters, as well as responding to customer change requests and initiating small equipment capability projects within the team.
You will be key in ensuring coherence and consistency to customer led changes with the Merlin Delivery Team. This position offers you the opportunity to liaise with customers and the wider delivery team whilst working with Joint Helicopter Command and Navy Command capability managers to develop requirements and plan future change requests in accordance with the capability management plans.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage a Control Account or simple projects demonstrating ability to lead
• Develop and control all relevant project documentation from project plans, project schedules, status reports and risk registers to deliver specific project outputs
• Measure monthly progress explaining variances and taking corrective action
• Ensure compliance in managing a Control Account or project with alignment within the broader governance framework
• Conduct internal and external stakeholder analysis, identifying and understanding stakeholder requirements
• Understand and demonstrate the contractual obligations and the role of suppliers to meet a project’s requirements
• Manage risk, assumptions, issues, dependencies and opportunities for simple projects or support in the development of these elements for larger projects proactively engaging with the Project Controls Function
• Maintain financial control, providing analysis in-line with the project schedule
• Maintain project delivery within defined parameters through effective liaison with project controls
