Job description
The Project Controls function has an opportunity for a Planner/Scheduler to support and lead the planning process and the scheduling activities of a wide variety of projects within DE&S. As the Planner/Scheduler Lead, you will be expected to (but not be limited to):
• Provide leadership, supervision and direction to support junior planners and schedulers; set and assure standards are complied with including supplier integration or integration of dependencies with other projects or Stakeholder schedules.
• Lead planning / scheduling effort for new baselines including running workshops and co-ordinating and managing efforts of others.
• Conduct analysis of supplier schedules and scheduling processes and integrate activities into the DE&S baseline.
• Interrogate supplier data to understand status and forecast for remaining work, also to provide analysis and insight to support the assessment of the suppliers performance
• Ensure baselines are maintained under change control as well as updating progress and remaining work to drive and control project(s)/portfolio.
• Provide monthly reporting and analysis including critical path, milestones, resourcing, and Earned Value Management (EVM) to ensure governance meetings are focused on areas requiring attention
• Conduct schedule risk analysis and assess the outputs to inform stakeholders
• Support the development of scheduling standards and procedures and delivery of training.
• Conduct health checks and audit across Portfolio to ensure maturity and standards are maintained to DE&S/SDA policy.
• Communicate project schedule performance data to key members of the project, programme and leadership.
• Influence stakeholders within the Project, as well as wider DE&S/SDA and Supply chain within the planning and scheduling technical field
Experience of Primavera P6 (or equivalent planning and scheduling software) and Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques from a variety of project environments (including different complexity levels and throughout the project lifecycle) would be required.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:
• Understanding planning methodologies and implementation into projects
• Developing, managing and progressing schedules
• Have an understanding of wider Project Controls and other functions in order to ensure data is captured correctly
• Engagement wider initiatives to develop your own skills and others around you
• Developing strong working relationships and working collaboratively with wider stakeholders across all areas and levels of the organisation
• Ability to generate and interpret data with the skills to be able to communicate clearly to multiple stakeholders at different levels.
It would be desirable for you to have a demonstrable ability to provide coaching and support to upskill staff within and outside of the scheduling function.
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Scheduling-specific knowledge equivalent to a Technical or Business degree (level 5 qualification or equivalent)
• Competent with extensive experience in a similar role that includes project schedule development and maintenance on complex projects across different CADMID phases
