Would you love the opportunity to work on some of the UK’s leading Defence Technical Projects and Programmes, supporting our Armed Forces in current and future operations?

The Land Domain is responsible for providing equipment, systems and services to the UK Armed Forces, which are fit for purpose and can be used safely at the extremes of their capability in an ever-hostile environment.

The Land Domain at DE&S Abbey Wood are looking for talented Sensors and Electronic Engineers to join their team and are offering the unique opportunity to work across a breadth of projects.

Due to the continued growth, the Land Domain is looking to grow technical depth in both Tactical Communications and Electronic Counter Measures areas of the business. These business areas develop and manage Sensitive Electronic Equipment to protect Military personnel in a variety of hostile environments, and provide urgent delivery on a range of tactical equipment to aid situational awareness.

In all roles, you will provide Technical Assurance against a portfolio of various complex cutting-edge equipment.

You will be delivering on Safety Cases, Requirement Documents and Processes, Integrated Tests and Acceptance Plans (ITEAP), Engineering Work Books, Technical Publications, Team Engineer Governance and many other areas of DE&S Engineering Processes.

These roles are restricted to SOLE UK Nationals only, and you must be willing to undergo DV Clearance within 12 months of being successful for the post.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for using and growing your skills and subject matter knowledge to help DE&S ensure that the Armed Forces are capable of operating in the most demanding environments. Adopting to new ways of working, demonstrating diverse and flexible approaches to challenges, working in collaborative situations and maintaining a right first-time approach to solution implementation.

Duties will also include:

• Management of Training, Support, Security and Safety.
• Development and management of user requirements and systems requirements from concept through to in-service.
• Ensuring value for money whilst delivering cutting edge capability to the Military across all domains.
• Ensuring equipment aligns with the Military’s wider support processes training.
• Responsibility for the integration, testing, evaluation and acceptance of the engineering plan.
• Provide expert advice and guidance in your technical area to solve complex technical problems and identify application risks.
• Manage the technical requirements for the acquisition life-cycle stage of one or more project, programme, service or system.
• Monitor and implement any governance and assurance policies and procedures.
• Lead on the development of requirements related to your area of specialism, including acceptance plans, performance criteria and draft specifications.
• Lead on the development of a system of systems Integrated approach.

What you will be assessed against

To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:

• Relevant Level 4 HNC / HND (or higher) qualification OR equivalent experience in Electronics, Sensors, Systems Engineering.
• Wide ranging depth and breadth of technical experience in an engineering specialism with knowledge and application of Sensor and Electronic Engineering.
• Experience of providing technical advice and leading the delivery of successful engineering outcomes.

It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:

• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
• Registered with the Engineering Council.
