Job description
Working as part of a Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) Delivery Team you will utilise skills in both Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) and stakeholder engagement.
As an ILS Practitioner, you will be working as a member of the Wildcat Delivery Team in Yeovil delivering safe, reliable and affordable technical through life support for one of the latest and most advanced UK military helicopters. The focus of the team is to support two variants of the Wildcat helicopter, the Wildcat Army Helicopter (Mk1), operated by the British Army, and the Wildcat Helicopter Maritime Attack (Mk2), operated by the Royal Navy. The Wildcat is a true multi-role helicopter, capable of undertaking Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR), medical evacuation, movement of troops and material, it also offers offensive capabilities. With our Royal Navy variant optimised for operations from frigates and destroyers, the Mk2 will provide a vital element of the UK’s new Carrier-Enabled Power Projection capability
You will be responsible for supporting the key activities contributing to the through life support of the Wildcat helicopter and its support equipment. This will range from the planning, delivery and operation of in-service support to equipment, and the resolution of design and maintenance issues. You will be working collaboratively, with designers in industry and the armed forces as end-users, to provide the cost effective and technically cutting-edge support solutions.
Occasional travel is required and includes locations such as DE&S HQ in Abbey Wood, Bristol and the Wildcat Main Operating Base, RNAS Yeovilton.
Responsibilities
As part of a team contributing to the upkeep of optimised support, you will be responsible for assisting with the development, management and improvement in through life support solutions. You will communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You will possess knowledge of ILS or Engineering Support, whilst demonstrating your problem solving capabilities combined with your passion for technology with a customer focus.
Technical responsibilities may include:
• Assist in the identification, investigation and technical resolution of equipment and support issues.
• Assist in the development and delivery of through life supports solutions to improve platform and equipment availability, reliability and sustainability.
• Assist with determining the optimum support solution conducting options and trade-off analyses enabling safe, coherent and affordable technical through life support
• Support the development and delivery of through life support contracts.
• Contributing to defining and developing the ILS Plan (ILSP).
• Support the planning for platform/equipment end of service life.
• Identify and mitigate the management of through life support risks.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to enable effective technical through life support, influence and support the delivery of the customer’s equipment capability requirements.
What you will be assessed against
To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
• Experience of working in at least one of the following fields: Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), engineering or supportability.
• Experience of working within teams, developing equipment support solutions, delivering product support and/or optimisation of product performance.
• An understanding of the ILS elements that contribute to a through life support solution.
• An understanding of platform/equipment availability and the balance of Reliability and Maintainability (R&M).

• Membership, or working towards membership of a relevant professional body.

About your team
The Integrated Logistics (iLog) Function is the integrating Function for Support within DE&S, responsible for the development, management and delivery of in-service support for our front-line command customers. The iLog Function consists of around 2,900 personnel, both civil servants and military, and with a wide range of disciplines ranging from operations management and supply chain management, technical through-life support and logistics delivery, to modelling and analysis.
