Defence Munitions Receive Store, Maintain & Issue a wide range of munitions that used by the UK armed forces to train, protect and serve anywhere in the world. Our Defence Munitions staff work closely with DE&S project teams and front-line commands in order to ensure our troops have the right items at the right time. We work as an important part of the wider MoD establishment that supports, procures and supplies our troops, providing them with a range of munitions from bullets, shells, and flares up to and including and Complex Weapons such as high-calibre ammunition and guided or targeted weapons.
In this role you will manage a team to deliver the safe and secure receipt, storage and issue of all General Munitions that are mandated by MOD Centre and procured through the DE&S Project Teams to equip the Front-Line Commands and operations.
Responsibilities
Specific role and responsibilities include:
• The role requires a practitioner able to engage with a wide variety of working and senior level stakeholders; providing support, advice, guidance, line management and suggestions relating to their specific tasking and equipment’s.
• Meet demand requirements of munitions and weapons targets to expected safety, time, cost and quality standards through the efficient and safe Receipt, Issue and Storage of munitions and weapons.
• Conduct on-receipt and pre-issue activities to ensure a good awareness of stock level and to meet required standards.
• Manage staff, directing work, manage the demand requirements, monitoring performance, managing disciplinary matters as well as accounting for absence and leave. This will include, maintaining a capacity and resource plan, to ensure there is enough manpower to meet the demand.
• As a building custodian you will ensure facilities are safe, secure and correctly prepared, set up and compliant with OSHE, Fire and explosives regulations prior to commencement of work.
• You will be working in an operationally focused delivery organisation, making effective decisions and managing a quality service. Safety always remains paramount, with a drive for improvement, professionalism and customer satisfaction can be found within this role.
• You will possess a strong understanding of, and be able to apply risk management. You will be a strong team player, with excellent judgement and know when to defer to others on topics outside of your own area of expertise.
Due to the nature of work carried out on site and site location it would be advantageous if you hold a full UK driving licence.
Please note:
* You may be required to operate as Duty Control Officer, including on-site overnight and at weekends.
* This role involves occasional travel to other locations across the UK.
What you will be assessed against
To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria:
• Level 3 qualification in Operations OR previous suitable relevant experience.
• Knowledge of warehouse and/or logistics operational environments.
It would benefit your application if you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• Knowledge of weapons/explosives and munitions policies and procedures.
• AMANDA (Ammunition Management Area Networked Depot Assistance).
• A Full UK Driving licence.
• Previous management experience is highly desirable.

The Integrated Logistics (iLog) Function is the integrating Function for Support within DE&S, responsible for the development, management and delivery of in-service support for our front-line command customers. The iLog Function consists of around 2,900 personnel, both civil servants and military, and with a wide range of disciplines ranging from operations management and supply chain management, technical through-life support and logistics delivery, to modelling and analysis.
