Job description
The post holder will be part of the DE&S Infra Security Cell responsible for delivering a range of Cryptographic security services to the MOD, our defence industry partners and other Government departments. The team is responsible for ensuring all duties are carried out to the highest standard in accordance with both MOD and Cabinet Office policy. The Abbey Wood Crypto team provide oversight and administration for the site’s project teams working with Cryptographic projects and material.
Responsibilities
• Provide Crypto services to DE&S Abbey Wood(ABW) and act as intermediary between Crypto Services for Defence (CSD) and DE&S Abbey Wood.
• Act as Crypto Subject Matter Expert (SME) to assist Project teams in meeting Project security requirements.
• Provide a central, secure hub for the receipt, storage, distribution and disposal of Crypto items in accordance with MoD Security Policy.
• Control and be accountable for all on-charge Crypto items provided via CSD in accordance with MoD Policy.
• Receive, store, issue, maintain, in cooperation with maintenance providers, and dispose of Crypto equipment and KV IAW MoD Policy or as directed by CSD.
• Assist ABW Project teams and others, including lodger units, in meeting mandated Crypto security requirements by providing advice and guidance.
• Maintain whole life accountability for all cryptographic items IAW MoD policy
• Raise, maintain and control Crypto Authorisation to meet the needs of the business and the requirements of the MoD Policy.
• Ensure routine destruction of crypto material is carried out IAW MoD Policy.
Due to the nature of this role, the position will be open to Sole UK Nationals only as the successful applicant will be require to undertake the DV process once in post. Additionally, The post holds a 24/7 on-call element and the successful candidate will be required to lone work and therefore should be able to work unsupervised for long periods
What you will be assessed against
To be found successful you must demonstrate the following essential criteria:
• Attention to detail and ability to translate and accurately record information. You must be able to accurately transfer vast amount of serial numbers and record ledger entries
• A working knowledge of MS office software
• Available to cover rostered on-call duties after full training and handover and respond within 2hrs, 24/7 on your given week
It would benefit your application should you be able to demonstrate the following desirable criteria:
• A previous Military background would benefit the role, as the role requires Military type Crypto accounting and regular duty hours 08:00 – 16:00.
• Ability to muster a large account, accurately transfer data and numerical information predominantly serial numbers.
• Be prepared to work closely with a colleague to check and cross check data.
• Ability to understand, write and implement local Policy.
• Ability to understand Crypto networking.
