Full-Time Deputy Traffic Engineer
Job Description
- Review project plans and traffic impact analysis studies, and contracts.
- Coordinate developments and projects in design/under construction.
- Perform general safety and mobility traffic studies.
- Attend Traffic planning meetings.
- Supervise Traffic Electronic Technicians.
- Make decisions and be knowledgeable of all relevant policies and procedures to ensure NCDOT specifications are met.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office and CADD/drafting applications.
- Knowledge of transportation-related engineering standards, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills working with contractors, the public, and other departments.
- Ability to craft quality memos, reports, and emails that clearly convey technical information and engineering concepts.
- Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing engineering projects independently or with limited supervision.
- Expertise applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems.
- Safety toe footwear.
- You may be required to register as a professional engineer by the NC Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
