Job Opening: Deputy Research Director
Location: Washington, D.C. or Minneapolis, MN (hybrid)
The BlueGreen Alliance (BGA) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Research Direct (DRD). The Deputy Research Director (DRD) serves as a liaison between the Legislative and Federal Policy Teams and the Research Team. This position reports to the Research Director and is responsible for translating policy needs into research requests and keeping the Research Director up to date on policy work. The Deputy Research Director helps various audiences understand complex issues including the staff, BGAF partners and allies, funders, and the public. This is a hybrid position, based in either the Minneapolis, MN, or Washington, D.C. office.

Essential Functions
The DRD will:
- Work with Research Director and federal policy staff to develop and implement priorities for Research staff working on policy work;
- Help the Research Team understand policy needs and translate them into research requests;
- Assist the Policy Team to utilize research capacity and translate research/data deliverables into policy materials;
- Guide and review the work of Research Assistants and Analysts, coordinate across the organization to staff projects appropriately and ensure successful completion of work;
- Contribute directly to research deliverables such as fact sheets and reports;
- Support the Research Director in team processes and ongoing development; and
- Conduct research that supports racial and environmental justice and equity policy work.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of research experience in advocacy, labor, or business; or a combination of related education and experience to exceed five years;
- Three or more years of project management or coordination experience
- Experience in policy research and/or analysis, including experience with analytic techniques or tools/processes and familiarity with relevant data sources;
- Experience in a liaison or dual role working with both research and policy staff;
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including intermediate experience with Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing, coordinating, or leading people such as staff/employees, volunteers, students;
- Data analysis experience (geospatial, statistical, descriptive, exploratory, etc.), database experience;
- Experience or familiarity with manufacturing and supply chain research and data sources.

This is a union-represented position, represented by the United Steelworkers, Local Union 2002-24.

Job Information: Salary range, $70,000-90,000 annually, exempt.
The position may be based in Minneapolis or D.C. Travel expectations are less than 10% of work time.
